The crazy thing about most zombie movies is that apparently no one in them has ever seen or heard of a zombie or zombie movie or how any of it would be

Like the raccoon, I enjoy trash, but I don't try to pretend it's not trash.

"Everyone" thought The Odyssey was smart.

"Everyone" (11/12) wanted to let Lindsay Clancy off the hook.

"Everyone" saw A Minecraft Movie literally just for dated-on-arrival memes.

"Everyone" has a been a writeoff for about 10~ years, now.

You would think adapting the first Resident Evil game would be simple. Take basically a haunted mansion, fill it with nightmarish bioweapons and then bring in a SWAT unit to destroy said creatures.

The tuff lady is also stupid because she went after a horde of zombies with a pistol when she had a smg in the trunk. She also took the keys showing she cared more about herself than the entire city and world and put herself in a situation where she would most likely die but took the keys anyway. 🤦

Why did the goblin turn on the stove?

Does this movie think Raccoon City is some podunk middle-of-nowhere small town? Why is this dude driving down like a 2-lane backwoods unplowed road through a thick forest to get there when it should be connected to a massive interstate freeway system the same as any other major urban area?

If it wasn't called "resident evil", no one would care. It's just forgettable schlock.

Someone in my theater audibly said “no f-ing way…” when he yelled VIDEO GAMES at the end. So cringe.

I really enjoyed the first 20-30 minutes but the movie gets worse as it goes on, by the end I was just mad.

Some call it Horror comedy, I think it is a Horrible comedy

Not at all surprised that, in a videogame series whose movie adaptations have all been ranging from mid to godawful, the latest one seems to squarely fit in the same range.

People turning their brains off is the reason we have so much crap now. I'll never understand this.

I found it funny because the unlikable characters having unfortunate events, like the guy shooting his car while shooting the zombie was hilarious to me, if they weren't using the Resident Evil IP I think it would have been better slightly at least, because the virus in question feels like the wanted the TAbyss on the big screen but also wanted Ouroboros same time (basically eldritch deep sea zombie virus and tentacle merging zombie virus)

I hate hollywood, I hate the industry, this is just another case of using IP to sell tickets.

Funny thing is Zach Cregger has said himself that he would have made this type of movie regardless if it was going to be called resident evil or not

I'm a fan of the games and my problem with the movie is that it's constantly jingling keys in front of you and I hate that shit.

I have a theory that most of the "positive" discourse is birthed through marketing and bots. Some cinephiles I know gave it a middle to low scores, while "influencers," who were paid or invited, generally gave it 4 stars or more, or just didn't review it but recommended it...

I also don't understand the director. Everyone gives his movies such easy passes for stuff that they would have nailed other movies for.

The title sums up my exact feelings to a t, i went into it expecting it to be nothing like the games and not to be amazing, but i was still open minded and could not have expected it to be this terrible. Idk what people reviewing this are on, its one thing to like it its another to claim this nonsense plot and writing is a masterpiece like people are. I actually dont think ive seen something i found this awful since borderlands, and i genuinely would rather rewatch borderlands if i had to watch one of them again.
I think it both suffers from "and this happened" writing and also a really bad case where every scene exists to set up a random "freaky" moment for the audience, instead of them happening naturally. The characters bend over backward to justify random 10 second moments. The moment where i really realized how bad it was was when they were on their way to the lab with the cure, only for the cop to stop the car, take the keys, and leave to magdump on some infected whom we are led to believe can be CURED. She has no reason to do this in the slightest, you could argue she was saving the survivor running, but she basically ignores them just to try a killing spree. And yea, its just one tiny thing, but the issue is these tiny things are EVERY MOMENT. Idk i feel like im going nuts because this movie almost felt insulting, like "turn your brain off" movies are one thing and this movie is just shit happening with no real rhyme or reason.
