Listening to you talk about this movie was a dramatic improvement, over the wool-gathering I was doing before you posted.

Oh yeah, as an Aussie, I can say this just happens over in New Zealand, the sheep got mad about the shagging.

@ourladyofperpetualskepticism 7 hours ago

For some reason the concept of just normal looking sheep but the human characters are terrified is so so so very funny to me. So this movie absolutely hits for me.

@achronos178 8 hours ago

Something about herbivores trying to eat you seems more scary.

YES. As a Kiwi, this film was indeed insane. I was not AT ALL prepared for the ending of the film. I'm so happy you covered this.

I'm Australian and I watched this back in highschool, and we all thought "yep sounds like NZ" lol

NZ has a special affinity for putting out unhinged bangers of movies tbh their film scene is great!

@radar9790 5 hours ago

I hope those bad puns made you feel a little sheepish.

9:20 good news, they’re making a sequel to the movie and from what I’ve seen from the trailer, we’re gonna have the regular rabbit sheep and some more weresheep.

@jamesabernethy7896 7 hours ago

My family are sheep farmers and I got this on release. I haven't returned to this in a long time but it if take it for what it is you can enjoy the silliness. Although I can't call myself a farmer, I've done plenty of farm work in my time. The cure being in a drench gun made me cry with laughter.

This is one of my favourite ever movies, I love it to bits, it's always a delightful rewatch. The image of the horde of mutant-carnivore sheep pouring over the hill, toward the fancy gala has stuck with me for years lmao

Absolutely check out Mārama, the new gothic horror movie from New Zealand about a Māori woman brought to Victorian England.

Back in the days of Video stores, the DVD of this film was always the one I was drawn too, scratching my curiousity to see how you could make a horror film around sheep.

"New Zealand's Insane Zombie Film" ah yes, Braindead, Peter Jackson's masterpiece. The greatest zombie film in existence. The greatest priest in all of cinema. The best baby zombie fight scene ever conceived by man. Made me give up on ever enjoying custard again.
...There's ANOTHER New Zealand insane zombie film? Oh, yes please!

@benjaminrubin2178 6 hours ago

Less spooky horror and more conceptually and psychologically horror, but the quiet earth is definitely a kiwi film to check out.

@cerisewolfeah 8 hours ago

In terms of Kiwi horror movie suggestions, Housebound! It's a horror comedy, like Black Sheep, and stars Rima Te Wiata, the lady from Hunt for the Wilderpeople.

While this movie is certainly lackluster at times, the sheer absurdity of the plot and amazing use of practical effects(including costumes) will always give this film a place in my heart.

Edit: Angus is definitely a pyschopath with daddy issues. Kids do a lot of fucked up and stupid shit but murdering your brothers sheep, gutting, and then wearing it as a ""prank"" is a BIG RED FLAG. Angus was too far gone at the very beginning.

As a Kiwi, I loved this movie when I was a kid lol. Cannot wait for the sequel.

Hey Ryan idk if you do animated media but I would love to hear you talk about Perfect Blue, Serial Experiments Lain, Angle Egg, and Mad God. Honestly I would love to see you cover animated stuff in the future!
