The whole Japanese metal scene is simply amazing right now

You've just discovered probably the most musically talented metal band to appear in the last three decades.

One of the most spectacular bands on the Metal circuit. Lovebites: excellence and elegance in perfect harmony.

This was my first time hearing them, too.  That was fantastic.

I'm always happy when somebody discovers LOVEBITES.
I'm a metal fan since the early 80's and this band is on my top 5 of all time.

The video is the opening song from Lovebites 'come back' concert in March 2023, it was their first time on stage in 2 years. During the break the original bassist and founder of the band Miho had left, vocalist Asami and guitarist/pianist Miyako became mothers and a new bassist, 20 year old Fami had joined the band. This is her debut as a professional musician, she was still studying at University.
Just 4 weeks ago they completed a tour of Europe, which included the main stage at Wacken Open Air Festival Germany, I saw them in London, and they have just embarked on a tour of Japan and south east Asia.
In the past festivals they have played at include Download and Bloodstock in the UK, Hellfest in France and Rock Imperium and Resurrection Fest in Spain. In 2019 they toured the UK with DragonForce at the invitation of Herman Li who remains a supporter, visiting them back stage during one of their gigs in the US last year. Other guitarists who support them include Marty Friedman, Lizzy Hale and Nuno Bettacourt, who has also visited them back stage at a concert in Tokyo.
These Ladies are the real thing, 5 top tier musicians who play for the love of the music and are friends off stage as well as on.
Band members are;
ASAMI, Vocals and Piano. She trained as a ballet dancer before taking up singing, being a R&B singer before joining Lovebites. She sings in English and writes a lot of the lyrics. She has a strong Japanese accent which some people find hard to understand at first, but it becomes easier with familiarity. She has often been described as a 'Female Bruce Dickinson'.
MIDORI, ESP Guitars. The 'Amazon Warrior' with the blond pony tail, she gave up a career as a Pharmacist to enroll at the ESP music academy in Japan when she was 20 years old. She learned to play piano and organ when a child. A  physical fitness enthusiast who has won medals in competitions
MIYAKO, Dean and Gibson Guitars, Piano and Keyboards. A classically trained pianist who composes much of the music, often incorporating themes from classical compositions. Self taught guitarist with the aid of a book on 'How to Play Metal Guitar'. She discovered metal music and the guitar at University when in her late teens. She describes heavy metal as 'classical music with electricity'.

HARUNA, Drums, the mini Nuclear Power House that drives the band. Known as The Little BIG Engine. Haruna and Akane from Band-Maid are friends.
MIHO, ESP Bass Guitar. The bands founder who is a big fan of Iron Maiden and especially bassist Steve Harris. The influence can be seen in the way she carries and plays her instrument.
Miho left the band in mid 2021 for undisclosed personal reasons
FAMI, Freedom and Bacchus Bass Guitars. The newest and youngest member who when she joined the band in October 2022 was 20 years old and still studying at University. She has her own YouTube channel which has nearly 700,000 subscribers. Check out her 'Alien Alien' slap bass cover from when she was in high school. She has just released a well received solo album.

Greetings from Japan. Choosing “The Hammer of Wrath” as the first LOVEBITES song to react to may have been a coincidence, but it was a great choice.

This track is the second song on their first full album Awakening From Abyss, following the instrumental opener “The Awakening.” It’s known for its member‑intro solo sections. Although such features have become more common recently, LOVEBITES originally had very few songs with bass or drum solos. Since their comeback concert also marked the first stage appearance of their new bassist, FAMI, the band chose this song as the opening number for that symbolic reason.
