LOVEBITES - Dystopia Symphony lyrics & credits:
Like it's an end of world
Making me fall apart
Pushing me to the edge of the darkness
Taking my breath away, and now it taking away my emotion

Why was I the one He chosen
Hear me cry when I'm running away from the storm
It's almost right behind me

The shade of moon above, wandering high in sky
Following everywhere in a silence
The shower of the light melting into the sleeping deep night

Lost in maze, it's all I hear now
Echo in my mind from far away
Wish to hold it in my heart to feel the love

Sadness, madness, edginess, and sense of loss
Breaking through tragedy, somewhere
There is much more to see beyond
I stand to face bravely

God, Heavenly light
Shining in deep beneath
Bringing a life to crystal bloom
Heavenly bless
Lay me in peace with this melody

SOLO: midori / miyako / both

Like it's an end of world
Making me fall apart
Pushing me to the edge of the darkness
Taking my breath away, and now it taking away my emotion

Why was I the one He chosen
Hear me cry when I'm running away from the storm
It's almost right behind me

Sadness, madness, edginess, and sense of loss
Breaking through tragedy, somewhere
There is much more to see beyond
I stand to face bravely

God, Heavenly light
Shining in deep beneath
Bringing a life to crystal bloom
Heavenly bless
Lay me in peace with this melody

Heavenly light
Shining in deep beneath
Bringing a life to crystal bloom
Heavenly bless
Lay me in peace with this melody

Nice. This song is about Ludwig van Beethoven, his decent into deafness and how it affected him. Miyako composed it using Beethoven’s actual themes taken from the Moonlight and Pathétique piano sonatas, hence the introduction with excerpts from the 1st. and 3rd. movements of the Moonlight piano sonata. It’s a work of genius in my opinion.

The bass player is Fami.

Herman Lee has been known to put on a white dress and play with Lovebites, there is a video on YouTube 😂

“Dystopia Symphony” is Lovebites’ homage to Beethoven. It channels the grief and terror he felt as he inexorably lost his hearing, and which he documented in letters to his family and friends. She layers it with conflicting emotions that ebb and flow throughout the piece — melancholy, rage, longing and, fleetingly, hope.

It was composed by Miyako, one of Lovebites’ two lead guitarists and their primary songwriter.  Here are some of the lyrics, co-written by Miyako’s bandmate, Asami:

Like it’s an end of the world
Making me fall apart
Pushing me to the edge of the darkness

Why was I the one He chose?
Hear me cry when I’m running away from the storm
It’s almost right behind me

The shade of moon above, wandering high in sky
Following everywhere in a silence
The shower of the light melting into the sleeping deep night

Lost in a maze, it’s all I hear now
Echo in my mind from far away
Wish to hold it in my heart to feel the love

Miyako originally scored the song for a full five-piece metal band, though she almost certainly did the first sketches on the piano.  The metal version is driving, symphonic, and chaotic, all at once—the way Beethoven would sound on electric instruments.  Lovebites recorded it in 2021, and included it in their EP “Glory Glory to the World”.

“Dystopia Symphony” is largely Miyako’s composition, but she incorporates several quotes, taken from two of Beethoven’s best-known masterpieces. They are not gratuitous:   each of them plays an important role in setting or shifting the mood of the piece.

Most of the quotes are from the first and third movements of the “Moonlight Sonata”.  The first one comes early in the piece and then repeats toward the end. It is almost frantic, and conveys a sense of panicked urgency. In my view, Miyako is using it to portray Beethoven’s desperation to get all of his music out while he could still hear. It happens to be one of his most recognizable motifs.

The other main quote is from “Sonata #8 in C Minor”.  It is completely different in feeling , using major chords to create a hopeful, almost triumphal moment.

In the clip shown here, Miyako opens the performance with a solo piano prelude that combines the opening and ending passages of the “Moonlight Sonata.”

You might also want to check out Miyako's solo piano version of this as well.  It is posted on Lovebites' YT page.

Then again, check out everything by them.  No bad songs, nothing even so-so.  They are simply remarkable.

The Wolfpack people know that Miyako composed this song amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Just then the founding bassist Miho left Lovebites. You should also know they were struggling for a hopeful future of revival in what felt like a dystopian world. Inspired by her admired Beethoven, who kept composing passionately after losing his hearing, Miyako gathered the courage to write this song.

A masterpiece.

just a suggestion......since you stop so often when you start back up back up a little bit so you can get back into the flow of the music, absolutely love these Ladies, so much talent in the music, lyrics, and the performance, they are World Class Musicians

Nice reaction Grim. Miyako composed this about the fear and frustration Beethoven nust have felt when he was losing his hearing while he was still composing. You can hear it in Asami's lyrics. Miyako was helped by "Mao" (Yamamoto), often referred to as Lovebites' unknown 'sixth member'. He has written for and collaborated with Lovegites since their beginning. He even particpated in a dual-piano piece with Miyako at her yearly Piano concert this Spring.

First, it’s important to clarify that Miyako did not perform the Moonlight Sonata out of personal ego.
She has written several pieces inspired by Romantic composers such as Chopin and Beethoven, and even when she plays piano as an intro, she only does so at major venues during a tour where that piece is being introduced for the first time.
And again, she performs it at the request of the band members and concert staff, not because she insists on doing so herself.

Asami mentioned it during the show, too: LOVEBITES fans—our fellow comrades—are, well, incredibly intense. Of course, that comes from a place of love, and we find it endearing. They are a truly passionate bunch. That said, please don't let that scare you off from LOVEBITES itself! 😝

Asami is right—LOVEBITES is the band's name, but it's also a genre.

My man, please fix your audio. It's horrible.

Everybody ignore lyrics, but they are real tresure. For some reason, Miyako fans ignore Asami, what is wrong and make me sad.

Fallout have nothing to do with LOVEBITES, not at all. :face-green-smiling: You talk pure stupidity. :face-orange-frowning: There is no two basis. :face-orange-frowning:
