I like how Raphael understands that many loyalists are quite capable of damning themselves but rather then use fear (at least not entirely) he actually inspires them to be loyal

While this was a great cinematic, I'm shocked at how far ahead the ASTARTES shorts were, even today, not only in aesthetic, but sound and action as well.

"Fervour requires no forgiveness if it is tempered with discipline."

Fucking Based.

They've finally figured out some of the animation tricks and techniques that made Astartes pop. So much better than the early animations!

Imagine how Angels of Death Season 2 is going to look if they keep up with this quality!

“Perhaps it was the same lack of humility that led to their legions fall”. I’ve watched this many times and that line always hits hard.

It will still never cease to amaze me that one man managed to create the best piece of war hammer animation I’ve ever seen. They should’ve just given him money and said do whatever you want, it would automatically be solid gold and something people would pay for.

Fighting in a hive infected by nurgle and against the death guard has to be some of the most horrific things you can do in the 40k universe. Thanks for the drop man this is sick asf.

The moment Raphael turns, at 15:45.
Even if the helmet is incapable of changing expression, I love how the director played with the lighting to make it look like he is frowning as he readies to scold the other Astartes.

The Astartes creator nailed Space Marines even better than this, his depiction of them was fast, furious, accurate and strong. Their movements were crisp and precise, nothing sluggish about them. Astartes has done one of the best jobs ever seen, getting close to the lore.

The duel with the deathguard was everything I've wanted to see with astartes on astartes violence

@RenMagnum4057 3 years ago

This looks more like a 'Death of Hope' successor with some inspirations from Astartes

One detail you missed...as Kizzy charged the Knurghts a white feather fell in the wake of his charge. A sign of the presence of the Primarch in spirit?...a foreshadowi of him regaining control?

@GirmGent 3 years ago

Watching Kazarion pick up a Deathgaurd was something, considering how heavy those bastards are and just slamming him to the ground astonishes me.

Only in death
Does duty end

I haven't checked 40k content in a while and the smoothness of the animation is definitely an improvement!

@Madashell1200 3 years ago

This. This is what we want more of GW.

@YourManifoldWorld 3 years ago (edited)

Looks like Kazarion rolled double sixes wounding both Death Guards with a chainsaw.

Edit: Wow, after they killed the Two Death Guards...when they entered that huge chamber. The music is very reminiscent of Blade runner.

God Raphael is so awesome, what an amazing Chaplain. That snooty, posh, ALMOST smug British voice combined with the aesthetic of the skull mask and blood red Blood Angel armor is so awesome. I would follow that man into battle any timr
