Disclaimer:
1) Yes, we talk (a lot) in this video.

2) Yes, we absolutely love Fred, his sense of humor, his lack of fear and approach to life.

3) No, you should not take our "joking" or laughter as disrespect towards Fred or "laughing at" him, that's ridiculous as he's awesome.

4) Yes, we missed some good nuggets from his commentary due to comments we made without pausing the video. We don't get it right every time, all the time and this one we went a bit overboard.

Thanks for watching!

Wait until you see the video showing how he put the ladder on the chimney. Genuinely amazing bloke!

The video of him putting up those planks of wood around the top of the chimney is even scarier. RIP Fred, you legend.

Now come on boys, it's not soup in the flask. He was an Englishman. It's tea!

I met Fred years ago at his home. He had traction engines & steam train in his back yard. All in working condition. He signed his book about his life with grace & humility. An absolute legend of a man

I'm a roofer and have been since I left school at 16. I have worked on some extremely tall buildings in central London, where I felt like one strong gust of wind might be the end of me, but you couldn't pay me enough money to do some of the s**t Fred Dibnah did. I don't want to say he was "Fearless" because we all have doubts sometimes, but he genuinely had giant balls.

Chuck Norris used to wear Fred dibnah pyjamas 🤣

Most of us watched his funeral on TV. A truly spectacular event.

CHEESE SANDWICH, WE CALL IT A CHEESE BUTTY IN THE NORTH

@simonrobbins8357 4 months ago

There’s not only his steeplejack videos to watch, he became famous enough to do quite a few documentaries on various engineering topics for the BBC. They are worth watching too.

Hes drinking tea and eating a cheese sandwich 😂

It's a cheese "Butty" (sandwich) not a cheese block!!😄😄

They couldn't use a wrecking ball or explosives because of the nearness of Courtauld's working buildings.
There were thousands of these huge chimneys in Lancashire at one time........remnants of the Lancashire cotton industry which had thrived for 200 years. By the 1970s, it was in its death throes.
Most chimneys were in close proximity to other functional buildings and houses. The safest way to demolish them was brick-by-brick. Fred Dibnah, a true Lancastrian, was one of the last of the steeplejacks who came to specialise in demolishing mill chimneys in this way.
He was a terrific character and much-loved in the UK, especially in Lancashire itself.

Fred was a friend of my father’s and I spent time with him. A very intelligent man and a great engineer.

That is Fred Dibnah commentating.

Fred was a legend, he had a TV series with him going around the country talking about Victorian engineering and the such like. You do need to watch the episodes we're he installs the ladders and the working platform, he was a true master of his craft. A good down to earth man.
