Glad you brought up the noise, that's the deal breaker for me on these. The Bafang BBSHD runs silent, and that's the way I like it. Don't need to attract unwanted attention when I'm riding.
I have the Bonnell and even with the 6k watts peak I almost never even need it. 3000 watts is more than enough for 90% of riders. This motor is a game changer.
Glad to see the proton is finally out, I remember asking you all the time about it when you would live stream it. 72v is definitely the way to go, should run cooler with the less amps it requires for the same watts. You should look into carrying the new high capacity high discharge cells coming out. Reliance RS60 and Linkdata 65P would give your batteries a nice capacity jump. Or even moving away from the dated 50S to the RS50 or 50XG, way better spec's all around
I really like this motor! 72v I like doesn't mean you have to be always at high speed! 25 30 is fine but the needed speed is important and the best distance as far as possible and would probably go with the gen2 pro. More battery the better!
Sweet glad I held out on the Photon Gen 2, this will work better on my old Trek 29er. Wanted the X1 but they don’t make the upgraded drivetrain for older MTB’s. I don’t want to shred teeth and chains too quickly.
Great video! The era of measuring motor ability by its wattage input or its Nm of torq needs to end! HP is the only way to measure power output! We need dyno graphs
