Would be fantastic for the huge cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh, but the are NO RE dealers in either city! The nearest dealer is 60 miles away! Crazy!

Do be careful, Freddie. You've again filmed yourself overtaking the lead vehicle in a pedestrian zigzag zone. You only need one busybody to send footage in to Nextbase, and you'll either be up before the beak or slapped with a £60 fine and three penalty points. Steer clear of Cycling Mikey's routes!

Royal Enfield's domestic market in India is enormous. I'm sure that they'll do well. Even if they don't, they take it off the market and go back to selling over a million bikes like they did last year.

I agree with you 100%, Freddie. Technology getting in the way of usability is a real problem. Touchscreens in modern cars are a perfect example: things that used to take one second with a simple physical knob now take five times as long.
I’ve worked with usability and design, and had plenty of debates with technical teams over exactly this kind of thing. More often than not, it’s a sign of inadequate user testing. I see it everywhere. Thanks for a great, honest review.

Freddie,, the Flying Flea accepts between a 100 and 240 V charging, so with a adapter it can be rapid charged at a level 2 charger. Plug adapters are available on Ebay, and ebike users are charging at level 2 power stations faster than at home or a wall outlet, if their chargers accept the 220V. Flying flea is rated to charge at up to 270 V. This is really exciting news and will bring down the charge times when using an adapter and stopping at a level 2 charge station. The delay in startup is because of ECU startup time. The ECU has to load way more data in an EV, compared to an ICE bike. There are significantly more sensors in EVs, that provide crucial data for the bike to operate. Loading the data takes up the biggest chunk of time. Then the onboard computer has to analyze the data and ensure safe operating conditions, and load the preset user preferences before starting up. This is why there is a higher startup time compared to a petrol bike. Having a physical key will not solve this in any way. The solution is to go for faster storage and more powerful processors, which will add very significantly to the cost of the bike, to the order of 20% of the total cost or more, especially considering the demand-supply gap for storage and memory right now (due to the huge demand for AI data centers). So this is not an intentional design decision that lets the digital nature of the product get in the way of usability. This is a fundamental technological challenge for affordable electric vehicles.

Whilst the range seems a bit on the minimal side initially, for someone using it for local commuting or for basic city travel etc it will I suppose be sufficient. Also when you look at the ridiculous prices being asked for electric cycles (pretty much in line with what RE want for this) it starts to actually make sense as an alternative form of city travel.

Hi Freddie, you pull in the brake lever then push the button to open the charge flap, I agree it should just operate with a key.

Freddie if you had the phone paired you can hop on the bike and ride away by just pushing the start button, grab both brakes and ride away. It is almost instant.

Hi Freddie, interesting review of the flea, I can see it working for many people that just want a toy or have a commute within it's range. However, for me and many others it just doesn't stack up. Hopefully, this noble first effort is something to build on for the future.
