On Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. ET, the Hayden Center hosted Pulitzer Prize–winning journalist Tim Weiner for a deep dive into his explosive new book, "The Mission: The CIA in the 21st Century," a New York Times bestseller. He was joined by NPR’s Greg Myre for an unfiltered conversation about the Agency’s battles, successes, and setbacks, and the future of American intelligence.

"The Mission: The CIA in the 21st Century" is Tim Weiner’s fast-paced history of the Agency after the Cold War. From 9/11 and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to China and the Trump era, Weiner reveals how the CIA has fought—and sometimes stumbled—in a dangerous new era. A gripping account of secrecy, power, and America’s place in the world today.
