Pure class as an actor. Pure class as a man. He really was the real deal

Wow what a legendary actor, even in his 70's he was such a handsome & beautiful man, the camera still loved him. I could listen to him giving interviews for hours, it's just fascinating. I know he was criticised for his views of England and how it has changed but to hear someone speak truthfully and from the heart is a rare quality and he was never afraid to speak his mind. There are many people who long after for old England, the old ways & values, but for better or for worse, THAT England has gone. There are many things that I don't like  and many things I don't agree with, but despite everything, England is home and this is where the heart is. RIP Dirk, and THANKYOU for the years of entertainment you've given us and for many more years, God Bless xx

The story about the correspondence with the dying American woman actually moved me to tears....how lovely.

Nice to hear him refer to Anthony Forwood as his partner, something he couldn't find himself to say to Harty just as few years before.

I met Dirk once and after many years of being a fan and like many people who meet their acting idols was almost speechless.  He was very easy to talk to, a somewhat outspoken and blunt but not unpleasant.  It was a beautiful memory.  I loved him in in tbe Doctor's Dilemma, the Doctor films, Victim,  Libel, the Spanish Gardiner, Death in Venice, the Blue Lamp and many others.  Film stars in his day were individual and real people as well as stars.  Now, most of them have plastic surgery, and look very similar.  Who cares if he really was gay, he was one of our greatest actors and is still my all time favourite actor.  I have also read all his books and they are all extremely good.  He takes you to place and you feel that you are there with him.

Marvelous actor his views of himself our Humbling…. The servant , victim, mothers house , accident, and death in Venice are his finest films of any actor have ever seen. Truly one of the best. Personal favorite.

A great actor and a brave man who accepted roles that challenged moral standards of the time.

I am of his generation and grew up watching his films, especially B&W movies on TV on Sunday afternoons and it is only now realize what a very intelligent, very polite and charming man he was, who unlike actors today behaved and answered the questions given to him. A great shame we no longer have actors like him any more.

Blue Lamp is underrated.
He played his character with amazing dexterity, for such an immaculately spoken man.

Absolutely fascinating man.

Candid - charming - such a talented actor -  wonderful voice - very engaging to listen to in every way - and he is
every bit as entertaining in reality as his movies were -( Simon Sparrow for one - those Dr movies were terrific fun)

I could listen to him all day,an English gent of a long gone era,how horrific is today's England/world,we are now as good as a third world country.

To hear English spoken by English people instead of the ridiculous transatlantic rubbish of today is a pleasure & a pain. What we have lost. And become.

Fine actor,he always remind me of a young Cliff Richard

Too handsome..

It was his 100th birthday last month...

Loved him

He was hilarious in’The Blue Lamp’ when his girlfriend was going to stay with his mate, his reply to him and her…..’ oh yeah….very cosy’….

Wonderfull interview with dirk good stuff

Dirk Bogarde had so much class, I’m in the process of reading his books, I laugh out loud hearing about his childhood which sounds idyllic with his sister & all their antics. John in Monmouth
