Going by this mini doc, Dirk Bogarde comes across as a very dignified individual. His private life's his own and he hurt no one.
Belated R.I.P.s Mr. Bogarde

There has always been only one Dirk Bogarde.

A nice, genuine guy, I think.  One of my all-time favourite actors, he was so versatile he could play any character.

Death In Venice is Dirk at his best, worthy of an Oscar.

I didn't know that he was gay in real life, and you know what? I don't care. I loved him in that movie when he played the gay lawyer. His character no longer shied away from the truth about himself. I would have been proud to have known Dirk Bogarde.

How could you leave out the films he made with Visconti? He was a fantastic actor, he didn't even need to speak to communicate

Dirk was so handsome and his voice was gorgeous. We loved him .

His autobiography’s are an incredible read, he actually had to pull a trigger on two occasions a brave honest genuine man

I'm 84 now & when I was 14 or so I discovered this guy & fell in love - he was my heartthrob thru my teens ! Lovely to see this life story & that familiar face ! I hadn't thought about him for many years & of course had a busy family life with 4 kids & all the whirl of life. Thanks for your video - I enjoyed this story !  I didn't know he was gay, but not at all surprised since he always had a little something that was sensitive & the opposite of so many macho stars, that was his appeal in fact !

I did not know he was gay and I had the biggest crush on him.  Who really cared that he was gay!  He was a gentleman and a fabulous, fabulous actor.

He was a very decent human being, shot through with honesty and integrity, an example to us all.  Pure of heart. May his soul have found peace...

As a young boy I was fascinated with Dirk Bogarde and loved his movies, it was great learning about his life here.

dirk bogarde comes across as , essentially , a decent human being ... the rest is mere decoration ...

Strange to not mention perhaps his finest film performance, “Death in Venice.”

If you want to really know him read his biographies that he wrote himself

Death in Venice,  my top 10 films ❤

A truly remarkable job you've done with your Bogarde mini-bio. Clearly the subject here meant something special to you, too. Thanks for this

Having witnessed Bergen Belsen camp must have inspired his performance in The Night Porter, one of the best movies of all time.

What a lovely man.

He was a very good writer, I read many of his books. His last one was called,” A Short Walk to Harrods.” I would love to find a copy of it.
