Great video! As a massive uc enjoyer back then, I would have loved to see a uc meta with a nerfed uc (especially in comp) but sadly ring engines are way too strong and just way more consistent than uc would have ever been in this meta. It was fun having the convo about this and I’m very glad I could help provide information. It would be interesting if uc made a return one day. 🙂

The obvious answer is that it would be a better overall meta.

It be like the open network test all over again in a good way.

The Ring Engines getting nerfed is inevitable, so this video is very much appreciated.

I feel like Sega just regrets making the Ring Engine gadgets at all.

Like think about it:
First they banned it, then they nerfed DRE, but even after the nerfs things are still mostly the same with HRE + 130.
We're pretty much back to where we started and I doubt that even they're happy with how things turned out.

I still prefer playing in this meta than Pre patch UC, but overall things are pretty stale even after they released the Evo Gadgets.

Scrims where UC was banned before the engines were added were the most balanced and varied metagame we'd ever seen. It was so fun. I used to play inv+, slip bounty, tech drift, 130 rings on a board. I miss it so much man

Yeah, I understand why they put the plus speed on the Ring engines but the way they left it broke all balanced.

I remember the days of the UC nerf before Ring Engines

we kinda got to see what the game would look like without HRE/DRE with legend competition 5 having banned two slot gadgets and imo it was the most fun the game has ever been

Me who's pretty much exclusively been using variations of Big Idiot since day one:

Honestly it'd probably be a matter of time until ppl figure out the next best loadout for everyone to copy.
Also we're mostly mentioning RE/HRE but the elephant in the room is also PCB imo. Without that it'd be much harder to have a ring generation that's consistent and big enough to compensate for the constant loss from HRE + items. I get that it should be better than say, slipstream bounty because it requires more skill, but it is frankly too much. Especially now that we also know that it can be used to take unintended itemless shortcuts.

They made the choice to give Hyper Ring Engines an additional speed cap ON TOP of stats.

To my knowledge, even ring boosts are limited by ring placements.

There's no other gadgets that increase speed by 9 speed units, so I don't know what anyone was expecting

I think removing that extra Max Speed is the only way to go, it will give 1+ Max Speed per 20 stats (up to 100 speed/+5 MAX), increased boost charge rate, increased handling, increased power & faster acceleration

W Nessy!!!! WOOOOOOO!!!! 🥳 Also have to point out what made me laugh the most: 13:53 . This was a very video as it does a very good job of pretty accurately explaining how a Ring Engine-Less Meta would've looked like, though I do like how inclusive Ring Engines are to characters like accel characters especially for accel character mains tho very rare at a very high level. It definitely would be a bit harder for someone like me to play in that sort of meta, Ring Engines 100% made it alot easier since the 100 handling is so great when it comes to getting around turns and how it benefits snaking. So this for me is a really weird thing to think about as idk if I ever would want to go back to a meta like that when using Ring Engines just feels too good to want to get rid of, and also makes me wish that ACK wasn't so harming to 1 stat for a specific type of character especially 1 that hurts my main so much that you'd just have to use the components over ACK and now oops you don't have an extra slip bounty now... just having to comeback to the game but not for one of the things that keeps me coming back: Sage... it's a real hindrance. The analysis of this potential meta is nice but something inside me doesn't want to leave Ring Engines... hope that sounds like it makes sense. W Video tho...
