I thought the original meme video was already in GMOD? I mean it's not unreasonable to believe it was since there was already SNPC mods, weapon ports and custom huds available

4:44 hey that's my video lmao thank you Vinny

7:46 Actually, there is a lot of reason to believe that we will see considerably less widespread usage of generative AI at this level, but especially at the general purpose enterprise level, given how most token spend and even per-million-token rates, are heavily subsidized. Also the fact that that every single AI company is highly unprofitable. And that hallucinations are a mathematical guarantee.

Look, this is not to say that transformer-type models will cease existing (far from it, actually, some are even good tech!), but LLM based systems, operating theory free inference out of sheer parameter space, are a money sink, even if you run a distilled, open model on your own compute. Model drift would need to not be a problem for this to be solved.

Realistically, we will probably see purpose-oriented, 2-digit Bn parameter space but highly tuned models for things like coding, but incapable of doing anything else, see minor economic success, and highly stagnant, dated, local slop models being used by people who unironically use Suno. The former needs minimal training rounds, and serves only for highly skilled professionals, and the latter will remain a niche, insufferable space for people who see the terrible slop as good enough because they are the ones generating the sycophancy and have no taste or repertoire.

It's important to understand that this has infested the decomp and recomp space, in parts because it is particularly easy to do as this specific task is well within parameter space for every model under the sun, and because coding is perhaps the most linear "linguistic" application you could think of. The actual relevant, good work is already done. Mind you, this hasn't stopped the slop from being terrible anyway. If the fundamentals of the unit economics weren't terrible this could be a profitable avenue, but hyperscaler debt is way past this being recoverable. There are more GPUs sitting than installed, and the circular financing would be criminal in any real justice system. Nevertheless, you need only compare the average "elegance", for lack of better word, in the implementation of enhancements between slopped up recomps and more hands on approaches to see that the moment something gets harder, these tools are terrible. It makes the easy stuff easier and the hard stuff harder. Which, again, would be an awesome pitch if it wasn't completely broken economically, and applications of the tech were chosen by actual qualified users, instead of shoved by companies and bosses alike. Oh, and the theft, and ecological impact, and stuff like the Colossus data center literally giving kids asthma attacks...

Computer Scientist and Professor Emeritus, Sci-Fi writer and AI critic Cory Doctorow has a great book about the difference in tech adoption dynamics, in which he explains what a centaur (worker using a tool) is, versus a reverse centaur (a tool using a worker). Great read!

This is all only going to happen after the hyperscaler bubble pops, off course. At that point, there will be way bigger problems than slop, especially for those who have their retirement plans tied to the stock market.

The thing is, the alcoholic drinks have text on the container saying what they are.
If people just read the description, it shouldn't lead to too much confusion.

We're living in the Ringed City, every world is collapsing in on itself, and places and things are ending up where they should just not be in.

I've seen Artorias fighting the Doom Slayer at the Mushroom gate. All these moments will be lost in time like tears, in rain.

That Eggo sipping cream is surprisingly good stuff. Tried it in Gatlinburg.

the fortnite-ification of the world.

Not sure if I actually care at this point.

I'm willing to let it rot.

The final fantasy 9 music in the opener though. 🔥

Vinny saying he used to be amused by generative AI but no longer cares for it makes me wonder if he has any regrets in regards to the album art for Realign being a recreation of a Ganbreeder image.

Personally, I really like Realign's album art and honestly even the AI generated image it's based on, but that was also from that very early era of generative AI where all the generated images were extremely surreal and barely comprehensible and the tech wasn't enough of a threat to take away people's jobs and etc.

I just had that Frosted S’mores one on stream the other day, it was surprisingly okay.

please don't get ai psychosis vinny

4:34 Polygon Donut ass hud

The recomp thing is so disheartening because someone out there looking to make one will see a half-assed vibe coded version and decide not to try.

hotdog on skateboard meme

Went to a Sonic Live In Concert peformance the other night and there were blue and red Sonic-themed cocktails.

12:13 I wonder if someone quoted Cheech & Chong, specifically "Dave's not here, man", and Vinny ran with it.

Nice
