Piglin Bartering Is Like Alchemy ▫ Minecraft Survival Guide S3 [Ep.140]

The Minecraft Survival Guide Season 3 continues in Minecraft 26.3: Wilderness Bound!

In today's video, I attach a single piglin to last episode's gold farm, and through the magic of piglin bartering, our gold farm produces 20 new items! This unlocks renewable quartz, gravel, soul sand, blackstone, nether brick, crying obsidian, dried ghasts and soul speed books - alongside a bunch of other items that are really convenient to acquire this way.

We also discuss options for decorating the farm, how copper golems can simplify storage, why I'm happy with a small-scale output (for now), and how to easily lock the piglin bartering setup so you can go back to farming gold ingots!

I would just like to take a moment to appreciate the very simple Redstone of this farm. As someone who is absolutely blunderous with it, it's been the thing holding me back from actually building one of these setups. But here it's super simple. Even a Redstone dummy like me can set it up! 😊

Worth noting: Piglin barter output is just under 3400 items per hour. So, if you have more than 2 piglins, you will need to start handling items coming in at above the speed a single line of hoppers can handle, which is 9000 items per hour.
Then again, a piglin takes 6 seconds for inspecting a gold ingot, so it will convert 300 ingots per hour. Assuming most of the ingots are crafted from nuggets anyway (300 ingots = 2700 nuggets), your gold farm and barter collection will need to handle somewhat similar item rates.

Love the copper golem for non-stackables! Wish I’d thought of that sooner! I’ll definitely be to adding that to my bartering storage.

Possibly the most ridiculous way to sort fire resistance potions from water bottles (and also the only automatic way I can think of offhand) is to build a moss and azalea based dirt farm, and run the dirt past a dispenser. The water bottles will turn the dirt to mud and become empty bottles (which you can now filter out), while the potions will just be ejected.

20:50 - you could also have a hopper feeding the items into the shelves, then when you need them you can just pull them directly!
I have tried to get a similar setup working in bedrock edition and found the piglins don't grab the gold before it goes into the hoppers, but I also built the whole thing before copper golems, so want to revamp it anyway. You've definitely given me some inspiration and ideas to work with!

And it’s also like reverse alchemy too! Since gold is the input instead of the output.

i think if you use a splash potion of fire resistance on a villager, you can use a lava elevator to bring a cleric up there to trade the rotten flesh for emerald !

I needed something like this (a video from you, not necessarily Piglin bartering setup, I know that stuff already) today, thank you Pix

Well now the bartering farm golem needs to be named after some kind of soda after that little joke! XD

Yes Pix!!!! Thanks for an absolute banger of a vid! Keep up the good work!

Hey Pix 😊 you may not need it here, but unless you're reaching mob cap, you could increase rates with a pack spawning skirt around the top layer of the farm.

@mohamedsathir25 15 hours ago

How have i not noticed you did not build a bartering farm

Here to give you some early views so that the thumbnail impression gods smile upon you ♥

@joshstevens7586 16 hours ago

Hey you could have one slice of your item filters being a chiseled book shelf which will automatically sort out enchanted books.

In theory this could be built in Bedrock version below the bedrock ceiling as long as you make the surrounding area un-spawnable, like with a wither skeleton farm, right? We would just need to figure out how many blocks tall the entire farm would be.
