Keep punching Champ! keep punching! R.I.P.
he was pure class, no gansta things, no trying to act bad, a real example of how a champion should be.

Love when you said, "you need to count to 10 after that? You could count to a hundred and he ain't getting up"

I love how respectful men were in those days. They talked their shit but didnt make a spectacle of them selves. Me of every race were just the best men then

The old days ❤

What I found insane was the fact that at round 13 when he knocked out Jersy Joe Walcott, Rocky was running to his corner. Can you imagine running to your corner while you were trading punches with the champion? Not even Ali could do that.

Ali wore the white trunks blk stripe in honor of Rocky. Cud D Amato made the Peek a Boo off Rockys style cause it was so underrated. Joe Louis fav fighter. Tysons leaping left hook was his favorite punch Rocky thru.

My favorite boxer of all time. When asked about past legends, Ali admitted the undefeated Marciano would have given him the most trouble because he had no standard boxing style and fought like a relentless bull. When interviewers asked Tyson how he felt about being compared to the undefeated legend, Tyson replied: "I'm flattered to be mentioned in the same breath with such a legendary fighter. But I really believe that I'm Mike Tyson and that was Rocky Marciano... really, I think it was a privilege to even be mentioned in the same sentence with Rocky. I think we are two different fighters." Tyson emphasized that statistics don't capture Marciano's greatest weapon—his heart. Tyson described him as a fighter who couldn't be stopped once the bell rang, constantly coming forward and pounding opponents for 15 rounds straight until they dropped.

Louis was " the Brown Bomber" he was arguably the best. Could box, could really punch. Was tough, conditioned. He had it all. Marciano was like smokin Joe Frazier.

he looks like a roman Galditor.

Rocky was the only fighter to retire after 49 fights undefeated. Also TV was still new in the 50's, and sets were very expensive - they ran hot on vacuum tubes and were prone to break down, but before that radio was the only home electronics except for very expensive console HI FI stereos and portable AM only transistor radios, Telephones and some people had Ham/shortwave radios.

I was born in 1954 and when I was 8 or 9 I was hearing about Rocky all the time. Saw film of his fights and he was able to absorb a ton of punishment. Those days in boxing were brutal. You can see Jersey Joe holding behind Rocky’s head and hitting him in the face. No foul from the ref. Hitting the opponent in the back of the head. And, you see boxers defenseless on the ropes and they’d get hit with a hammer!

in no way do i imply that i was anything like him. i fought ALOT as a kid. i never was in one place long. i went to over a dozen elementary schools. i had no "real friends". needless to say i didn't play well with others.3 years after his death when i was 12 one teacher used to call me Rocky. even that long after his career and then death, it was the ultimate compliment. RIP Rocky

Back then gloves were leather and a lot lighter padded with cotton, it was like fists wrapped in hardly anything

Until Rocky Marciano arrived, people thought of boxing only from a technical and stylistic point of view, but Rocky demonstrated that determination, will and heart, things that are not included in statistics, but are as important as other skills and can change the course of a match completely.
