Today I'm reacting to a documentary about Rocky Marciano, the legendary heavyweight boxer who finished his career with an undefeated 49-0 record. I’m watching his biggest moments, knockout highlights, and what made him one of the hardest hitters in boxing history.

This is my first time watching Rocky Marciano, and I'm breaking down my reactions and thoughts throughout the documentary.

If there is a draft you WILL go. Living in this country this is part of having this level of freedom. So many of Gen Z say they would've go but I have news for you, you don't have a choice.

Rocky was not based on Rocky Marciano, although Marciano is mentioned in the movie...Rocky was based on Chuck Wepner fighting Muhammed Ali...

ALI is my favorite boxer
He transcended sports, and I got to watch him in real time. I'm old
But not old enough to see Rocky fight
Ali said he wasn't sure if he could have beat Marciano
Undefeated
Amazing

I've watched the entire fight with Archie Moore. Rocky's conditioning was unworldly. The last 3 rounds were nonstop attacks. Just bomb after bomb and somehow he never got tired.

Jersey Joe just wanted that one last paycheck ... and he be like I'm out of here

Joe Louis was the champion then so Rocky had to fight him - and they fought a full 15 rounds back then in the heavyweight division, though Rocky rarely needed more than 3 to five rounds to finish off his opponent

There has not been a draft since the 70’s. The military today is all volunteer!

@jaysmartass4862 1 day ago

Back then the heavy weight division was around what the light heavy weights fight at today and the light heavyweights fought at what the middle weights fight at today

Rocky was - and is still - the only fighter in history to retire undefeated > 49 fights, 49 wins, and 43 by knockout.

The movie Rocky must be very loosely based on Marciano's life, cause irl he wasn't washed up or lost fights, or was happy to just stay on his feet till the bell rang.

How do you face a fighter that hits that hard and runs 15 miles a day? It's insane!

We haven’t had a draft since 1973. Tyson and Ali have said they Sonny Liston , couldn’t have beaten Rocky. I think Max Bear killed two in the ring. The only boxers with hits similar to Rocky are George Foreman, Mike Tyson, Joe Louis, Joe iFrazer Tommy Morrison, Razor Ruddock, and Butter bean. The longest fight recorded was 110 rounds. They were actually more corrupt than Don King

Rocky used an extra heavy bag to train. He’d destroy a normal bag he punched so hard. Nothing beats a KO or go home fight.
Here’s the Goat 🐐 of Mauy Thai who also had to fight men much heavier than him.

Your prospective on the draft is off. It’s not about fighting for the government. We the people fight for we the people. Our family, friends, and neighbors. That’s why we would want to fight. As a grate grandson of an Italian immigrant, they fought because they believed in this country and knew their families were better here and they would die to make that happen.

God bless all our veterans.

The only ones that made any money then were the lucky ones who were winners with honest managers

I am 77 and totally believe in Yeshua, so we all try to be prepared for final departure from this interlude of our souls. To be with Jesus. You do well, is my salute to you.

rocky fought his brother under diferent assumed names avoided great boxers like sonny liston.Fought old fighters way past their prime. many fighters viewed rocky as a fake champion

Yeah in the old days fighters got nothing jack Dempsey and jack Johnson used to fight like 20 round fights for almost nothing there's a fighter from Sunderland England called cast iron casey and the guy had like 220 pro fights and another 100+ amateur and never really made a penny. today's fighters make a fortune compared to those guys and especially if you were a underground fighter like the bare knuckle boxer's from Britain and Ireland that type of fighting existed for hundreds and hundreds of years and it was badly payed and brutal. the rocky movie gives you a little glimpse of this in the first movie after the first fight where the venue and dr take most of his movie after every fight.
