Really appreciate the conversation! And your channel! -John

John's epitaph will read "His whole life, John was bothered by death. Now, at last, he no longer is."

“I wish I had more than solidarity to offer”

You’re not alone

0:56 One minute in and already watching John Green struggle with earbuds is the most John Green thing that has ever John Greened.

I clicked so fast

Hey guys, I'm a high school teacher in Canada. I teach history, philosophy, and comparative world religions. Remember that every view you get from a guy like me is hitting 30, 60 , or 90 kids. Your impact is enormous and the videos that you make have fueled my interests and other educators like me to share with students regardless of catchy thumbnails or titles. I really appreciate the tone and the way you convey information that allows it to be accessible so that I can learn to teach and speak in a way that is open and inviting to learn about other ideas and other thoughts. Thank you very much for your work. Do not despair, the message is out there and those of us that are doing the work have always been doing the work and will continue to do the work.

The best and most unexpected crossover of all time!!!!!!!!!!

Never be disheartened that you might not be engaging in academia as much as you thought you would; at the end of the day, your work reaches such a bigger and more diverse audience than any published article.
Look forward to your videos every week!

Hey Andrew, since it came up I’ll mention it—what you do is so important. I’d like to say to the world, for sure, but I can only guarantee it’s important to me. Your work on YouTube helps me have a more complete view of a subject that has burnt in the back of my brain since I was single digits. Thanks!

I know no one does, but you guys don’t give yourselves enough credit. The work you do is so beyond important.

I didn’t realize how much I wanted this until I saw it

S-tier crossover! I didn't realize you advised on the CC. It was an excellent series.

I grew up with the notion that a person either had religion or didn't.  It is so valuable to hear both of you speak about religion in such a thoughtful way. The awareness of the beliefs of others is a gift.

Was actually blown away by how good this conversation was. Very humble but important

Crash course nerd forever lol

29:13  earlier this year after David Lynch died, people went to the LA big boy statue and left cigarettes, cherry pies, black coffee and sun glasses in memory of David Lynch's iconic artist life.

John Green saying that your channel has "an intellectual humility" is enough for me to subscribe.

I studied and work now in STEM, but Religion for Breakfast videos in 2014-2016 sparked my passion for the field and they encouraged me to take a religious studies minor in my undergrad; because of your videos, I’ve learned new languages, I’ve gone across the world for anthropology field work, and I’ve met many of my now closest friends and colleagues.

None of this would have happened for me without your work and Religion for Breakfast as a whole. Proud to still watch after 10 years, thank you!

Love both these men. Wonderful spirits - it is abt getting people excited in something important, and sharing w/ ea other.

Thank you for mentioning the struggle between making educational content and having to engage in attention competition. As someone coming up in the field, it's reassuring to see that even titans like you don't feel entirely comfortable with it.

Also, I dug the budhist-esq "we Are the ocean" line, that was awesome. Both of you contribute so, unspeakabley much to thinking complexly about religious litterally online, so when the attempt feels futile, rest assured you have ALREADY set in motion a wave of positive influence in the way people think about topics like comparative and the academic atudy of religion.
I was so excited when andrew announced this video, and it DELIVERED! we need more colabs like this
