I like that John Green had this whole theory about the show, how probably no one actually eats all that food and the show just has people taking away bits of food so it looks like it is all getting eaten. And at no point did John think he could ask his brother Hank about it.

Being 22 and listening to John green talking about struggling in relationships and being low functioning is so comforting because I’m like okay it gets better

Josh just keeps killing so many people. Feeding them their last meals. And you're just letting him get away with it. I'll miss you John.

My disappointment that pizza John didn’t come up when they ate pizza is immeasurable. So a 9.99/10 episode!

This guy is so eloquent with his vocabulary, he should consider writing books.

As a 22 year old who grew up loving John Green and hearing that his 20s were rough, and that he was called “a low functioning young adult” makes me feel so much better about my current situation

Wow. You can tell in the first six minutes that John has a bit of a cold making his voice a bit nasal, and then he takes one bite of a spicy enchilada, his nasal passage opens up, and BOOM he sounds perfectly normal. THE POWER OF HOT SAUCE

The one guest who didn't really need the "how often do you think about death" question.

I feel shocked that I'm only now finding out that the art museum curator, Sarah Green, was a boxer?! 😮

Whether it's Philosophy Green or Science Green, this format is perfect for Greens. They're both so great at taking you to a place of deep pessimism about the mistakes of humanity and then give you hope through highlighting the good. I'm so thankful for both of them.

“As long as either of us is alive, I will be his father and he will be my son.” Ugh John you can’t just hit me with that. I was having a normal morning, then just hearing those words stirred something in me so deeply and brought tears to my eyes.

the most on-brand guest for this show

Wild to hear how universal " I was a 9th grader wearing an emotional support trenchcoat in Florida heat" is as an experience for a certain subset of millenials.

Of course he was the perfect guest, he wrote an entire book where the main character was obsessed with last words.

At the 26:00 minute mark Josh said something that was incredibly profound and eye opening to me as a teacher. “My point in learning is to find my place in the world”. Josh from Mythical Kitchen, I want you to know that that quote will be on my whiteboard for the next 30 years. Thank you.

This is why John Green is a successful author. His ability to tell stories and pull random references out of his head in an interesting way is kind of amazing.

This ep is interesting to me cause usually guests ask for specific dishes from specific places but this one was like mostly homemade dishes that take him back to a time in his life.
