Kpop is no longer about music or singing and vocal skills don't seem to matter in K-pop anymore. It has become common practice for idols to lip sync (if not all the time) and the most concerning part is that, audience can no longer differentiate a live singing stage and a lip-sync stage, with the emergence of realistic pre-recorded "live" stages.

i think now their only function is to be pretty. ngl it's really sad

@KhayJayArt 4 days ago

If they can't sing, what the hell were they DOING during their idol training before they debuted??!!

@ilovelimpfries 3 days ago

Remember when Mamamoo was criticized the only reason can sing live all the time because their choreography was simple. They made Hip to show that they can sing and dance live at the same time.

@kpopperontheloose2292 4 days ago

I think they should be able to sing still NO EXCUSES, IT'S MUSIC.

Jonghyun was a gem. Rest in peace, sweet Jjong.

A group’s best vocalists are often the least popular. (Taeyeon is a notable exception.) The way the public treated Luna and Wendy so horribly despite their skills, receiving constant criticism about their looks. Jeongyeon being one of the strongest singer in Twice but coming in 4th in the amount of lines, and considered one of the less popular members.

Oh but when nmixx sang live,suddenly it was “showing off”. They’re professional performers, not singers or dances, that’s why there’s no soul in anything, nobody is actually an all- rounder.

To show JLO right after the line, "best singer in the entire world" is crazy work. 😂

That said, gen 2 KPOP worked way too hard to prove they're actual singers and should be respected as artists to only have the industry move backwards and undo all their efforts.

They're basically all just glorified dance crews & influencers now.

Imagine newer fans watching 2PM live stages for heart beat or i’ll be back 😭 those poor men were huffing and puffing LIVE

@goodwillpesky 3 days ago

You know new kpop fans are delulu when they say H2H can sing Genie better than Girls' Generation.

@CelextialBunny 3 days ago

this is why idols like Jang Wonyoung (yes, I am her fan yet saying the truth) who have very average singing and dancing skills can become so Popular and impactful solely because of their visuals and aura styling instead of actually being talented.

Fans don’t care about singing anymore because the companies don’t care about it either. Fifth generation arguably has the weakest vocals of any generation & most of the songs are designed to avoid high notes anyways. The older gen of fans may notice but the new ones don’t care or pay attention to this

It's really the half mic /ducking. There are so many videos titled " idols unintentionally proving their mic is on" , I mean yeah, it is on, but they still rely on backing track most of the time. But yeah I do think often it's our fault for not valuing live singing as much.

@space_theatre3995 3 days ago

i also blame kpop fans because whenever an idols voice even slightly shakes, they immediately start saying they cant sing, this just makes companies and idols avoid live singing even more. singing is like an unsolvable issue now.

@millionpulses 4 days ago

The enshittification of Kpop 😅 But the companies must have noticed that why bother investing in vocals training (or even dance classes) when the fans will eat up the show even if all they do is stand around looking pretty? But the lack of confidence is cringe to watch, it's like frightened livestock being auctioned to the highest bidders

@sinceritii3846 4 days ago

The sad truth is that pretty faces are more marketable than skills. As long as the money spend on vocal training gives a lower return on Investment than the money spend on plastic surgery this trend will continue.

@SweetSalinity 4 days ago

kpop companies need to train their idols with basic vocal techniques, they focus on “unique” sounds before thinking about the longevity of that “cute” sound 💔 genuinely nowadays you need to WATCH to song to fully enjoy it. I just wanna listen

@nameisamine 3 days ago (edited)

It’s so refreshing to watch 2nd gen kpop idols performing on music shows in their heyday. Microphone ON, mics turned all the way UP, Singing LIVE, not hiding behind the backtrack. And if they made a mistake, they just had to eat it and move on. It makes you remember that things weren’t always this way. If your job is to sing for a living and you’re not a confident singer, I can’t imagine what that does to your mental health. Constantly trying to mask your lack of ability. Surely it gives you some form of imposter syndrome. 😅
