Rory Smith is dead wrong about the offenses being largely historical. City is still benefitting financially from the multiple titles and Champions League qualifications, the players they enabled themselves to buy, and the transfer fees they later got for them.

The crime that is just as big IS the denial, the attempt to force the PL into making a settlement because of the huge costs...THAT'S City thinking their bottomless money from a country would always get them off the hook.
Put them in bottom league, no CL for 5 years minimum

The huge benefits that MC gained from paying people off the books and pretending owner's money was sponsorship, doesn't stop at 2018, even if the practice ended. Because they built a behemoth squad that played together in the years afterwards, with the financial benefits of CL and the top PL broadcast payments. Plus they pushed up transfer prices to insane levels, making it hard for other clubs.

The impact is incalculable! They can't just be allowed to absorb whatever punishment is eventually levied financially, as they have built a juggernaut by circumventing the rules in an unprecedented manner, and they need to be EXPELLED from the Premier League, NOT relegated. They shouldn't be shunted down to be the FA's problem and then financially impact those clubs. They should not be allowed to use their fraudulent stature to weather a meaningless punishment!

The convicted bank robber doesn't get to stay in a house bought with stolen money. Why should City prosper from their misdeeds? And describing the charge count as a "majority" is fudging the issue.

It’s odd.
All us rivals thought they were dopers all along anyway.
City fans have already gotten to enjoy all the victories they’ve had, in England and in Europe.
There really isn’t any punishment that can fix the damage they’ve done.

Pep's Premier League legacy will be like home run records in baseball. The steroid era saved baseball and made a lot of people a lot of money, but the records and legacy are forever tainted by the cheating.

As a criminal defense lawyer there's something called "ävoiding disparity in sentencing". Based on this theory, comparing Everton's punishment to City, means City should be docked 8 points for every 20 million violation, meaning a deduction to Natioal League, at best, coupled with paying each team affected by their cheating 35 million pounds...

Football is losing its credibility. FIFA, the Premier League and PGMOL need serious scrutiny. Michael Oliver reportedly received £20,000 to referee a UAE match, so why hasn’t there been a proper investigation into the potential conflict of interest? And City keep collecting trophies while Rodri gets the Ballon d’Or what a coincidence.

Maybe, like the Chelsea case where we only found out the verdict after the appeal was not upheld, City's appeal has also been denied? City have basically been found guilty of corporate fraud which is significant, the punishment will be severe liverpool, United and Arsenal will sue and they will win

The sanction can't merely be a fine. They've been found guilty of massive corporate fraud, not just a few PSR violations. And their unwillingness to cooperate is an aggravating factor that will make the sanctions even more severe. Putting asterisks next to their titles isn't much of a punishment. For other clubs to take it seriously, most people are expecting massive points deductions/relegations and long-term transfer bans.
