Ethan Hawke and Josh Charles are from The Dead Poets Society movie! She asked them to have a cameo, and I loved it so much as a fan

The album is definitely more biographical than evermore/folklore.

The pill says Forget him. She looks like Clara Bow, who ended up in an asylum. Basically love and heartbreak can drive you insane. I actually think their love affair may not be real or physical. Maybe she imagined it or it wasn’t what she thought. I absolutely love how the Dead poets meet the Tortured poets ❤

The best thing about this Video is that Taylor Swift is at a point in her career where she working with the Taylor swift of cinematography, the Taylor Swift of production design, editor, vfx...and just making bangers.

This is her best music video I was waiting for reaction I’m really excited!! personally this album is definitely one of her best work she outdone herself with the lyricism 😭

8:28 astrology girlie here ✋🏼… So Taylor is a fire sign (Sagittarius) and is very into astrology herself. She references it in her songs often (lyrical examples; “twin fire signs” - state of grace [about Jake Gyllenhal who is also a Sagittarius], “I’m a fire and I’ll keep your brittle heart warm, when your cascade ocean wave blues come” - peace [her ex Joe was a water sign])

So not only is she a fire sign and her ex of 6 years (one of the heavy muses for this album) is a water sign, but Post Malone is ALSO a water sign (Cancer). That being said, I think that for this visual specifically, the orange and blue colors are meant to represent their elements of Fire and Water intertwining.

The music Video she is recreating a real Actress Called Clara Bow, she was big in the 20s but was driven mad by a relationship that resulted in her being locked in a Institute, the white costumes & black are outfits that are almost identical to ones Clara Bow wore as well as how she has done her hair & makeup

The reference to Florida in the song is that her ex broke up with her just before the Florida shows of her tour, & she was crying during those shows when singing a lot of the songs that where about him,
She felt like she was going mad hence picking Clara Bow as an arch for a few of the songs on this album

I genuinely think that Taylor's technical/editing team was waiting for this reaction. 😂

The black dress is symbolic of 1800's dresses worn for mourning.

Love this so much!!
No tats Post = Joe.
Tats Post = Matty
The pills she takes are labeled “Forget Him”. The bottle has her birthday and this album release date on the prescription bottle as the Rx number.
There’s a line in one of her best songs (IMO) “Peace” that says “But I'm a fire, and I'll keep your brittle heart warm.
If your cascade ocean wave blues come.”
I believe that may be the red and blue smoke/haze coming off of each other when they’re at the typewriters sitting across from each other. She’s the red and he’s the blue.
They obv broke up in the end. She couldn’t give him the Peace that he demanded from her.
The paper cyclone (similar to her performance on SNL) around them in the street were pages out of “The Story of Us” book that she was reading while they were laying together on the paper profile of Taylor (the profile looks exactly the same from the man in her mind from the music video of “Style). They were living in her mind. The book not only came undone in the end, but their story was lit on fire and was finally and truly declared out of print.
When Taylor runs to Post on the street, they recreated the time when she ran into his arms at the awards ceremony in real life.
The references about Florida and Texas is that there are two weeks (Fortnight) in between those shows. Taylor announced her breakup with Joe at the beginning of that time and it’s rumored that is when she had the brief moment with Matty Healy (lead singer from band “1975”) again, after the prior rumors from back in 2014. After the 2 weeks she went to her Texas shows on her current Era’s tour. It’s believed Matty was in that Fortnight between Florida and Texas. Don’t remember which shows came first, tbh. Matty Healy dresses like he could be a Jehovahs Witness on stage and is on record saying that he prefers to use an old fashioned typewriter. He also said something that people labeled him as a racist so Taylor’s fans “bitched and moaned” to get rid of him. She’s basically saying to us to MYOFB! LOL. She’s an adult now and her life is hers alone and it’s her own reputation that she is responsible for.
You can actually see her crying in some videos from those dates in both Florida and Texas. It’s just awful to see Taylor so crushed. She plays her instruments and sings very differently than when she’s happy. She thought she was going crazy. To help with an arch for this double album, she chose Clara Bow to be that part in a few of these songs.
Ethan Hawk and Josh Charles, both are actors from “The Dead Poets Society (came out in 1989/also her birth year)” are her two doctors, along with Post Malone, who were doing research on her but he ends up stopping the abusive cycle.
The lines on the EKG they showed for a split second were actually the lyrics for this song. The Machine has the words “The Master” on it, referring to her master records torturing her by what Scooter and Scott did to her. It looks like The Bride of Frankenstein. That movie happened to be released 89 years ago on April 19, 1935.
She doesn’t miss any details. Everything in the video has a purpose to her; it’s up to us to figure out what she wants to convey. Lyrical genius vs NOT. LOL. She was also wearing a black 1830’s Victorian Mourning Dress (ref 1: “I Hate it Here”) in parts of the video as yet another tribute to Clara Bow. There’s a song on the album called “The Black Dog”. The Black Dog is also one of the names of the 4 different variants of this album. I believe she saw Joe with someone else at a bar named “The Black Dog” in London. So, it’s a shoutout to another song on the Album.
Thank you so much for your great reaction. They look and sound great together! 👏🏻🫶🏼🥰

The Cabinet of Dr Caligari intersecting with Taylor swift isn’t something I had on my 2024 bingo and I’m DEDDDD

It makes my inner theatre nerd so excited to see a modern artist actually use an artistic vanguard like Expressionism to design her music videos!! Expressionism is so pretty and so weird in the best way possible. And it’s entire theme of human emotions distorting the way they see reality fits so well with the themes of the song and the album!

I think this is the first video I've seen with Cody, but his deadpan delivery kills me.

People didn't understand one thing at 12:51 she does move her eyes to each one of actors to divert our attention from her to them. So we can recognise them.
Damn girl❤ is a masterpiece herself.

Rodrigo Prieto was the cinematographer on both “Killers of the Flower Moon” and “Barbie”.

Love this song & video. Happily surprised by the great chemistry between her & Post Malone. It took five watches but I caught one more interesting choice in the video. When their “magic smoke” joins and it flashes to them on the paper & road not only are they in modern clothes, they are wearing exactly the same outfit right down to the stylish shoes. Also Post’s tattoo free (and quite handsome) face is now a reflection of Taylor’s face, the way her’s reflected his at the beginning. They seem very happy at first (nice to see a happy Post Malone) & in love then it changes. She looks betrayed & he looks heartbroken. Also in a very meta scene Ethan Hawke & Josh Charles play the doctors, both were in the Oscar winning brilliant & heartbreaking 1989 film The Dead Poet’s Society. She’s sooo good. Can’t wait for the film she has a deal to direct, the cinematographer will be continuing to work with her on it.

Lights have meaning. It ties way back to a song on folklore called peace which has a lyric " I'm a fire, and I'll keep your brittle heart warm
If your cascade ocean wave blues come"

The asylum is a metaphor for her relationship with Joe and she takes the pill to forget him. Post is a stand in for Matty, they started communicating through text (the typewriters) and it was magical. Then they get together and it's fun, but you slowly see the mood shift and it's not as great and the magic and she dreamed or it was in her head.

The black dress Taylor is wearing is a Victorian mourning dress.       She is giving an homage to Clara Bow. An “ it girl’  from the 1920s silent film era.    Clara was declared insane and locked up.   She was love sick.

The blue and orange represents water and fire. They don’t mix, like the relationship
