Thank you Xee, I love a good service station, used to spend a lot of time going up and down the country, as a child and adult and my favourite part of the day was always my fav service station.xx
Xee, if you remember the sign in this video, there’s a Caravan or as they are called in the USA Trailer Park near by. Caravan holidays are popular here in the UK. Some people buy a static Caravan on a Caravan Park and rent it out for some of the year.
Very nice indeed. Most service stops on the motorways have similar facilities but more basic. They generally have a cafe or restaurant, shops and even games areas. There will always be tables and seating outside, often paced near a treeline that is planted to break up the sound of the motorway.
It’s called Westmorland motorway services and it’s near tebay, as there’s a tebay services at junction 38 on the M6 just before this service station which is a truck stop 🏴🇬🇧
As soon has I saw the thumbnail I knew it was Tebay service station because it's my nearest motorway services I never drive past the Cumberland sausage is delicious it's like a spicey sausage and only made in the lake district
Hi, this is a motorway services, not a general petrol (gas) station. This is so you can have a break on a long journey and have a pee break, something to eat and drink. A lot of new motorway services now have a number of shops etc included. And yes, you can get fuel for the car or top up the car if it’s an EV.
I live in London but visit Scotland once or twice a year... Wherever I'm going IN Scotland., I make a point of taking the M6 just to call into "Tebay Services"... Also, for those who don't know, they have a 'sister' service station "Gloucester Services", (located on the M5 motorway in Gloucestershire between junctions 11A and 12). Both are owned and operated by the Westmorland Family, featuring similar farm shops, and locally produced food and products...
I'm Scottish from Loch Lomond and I've been to Tebay Services many times. I've eaten in the restaurant beside the duck pond before. We have similar restaurants beside Loch Lomond but there off local A Roads. The views are equally scenic but Tebay Services are known way up here in Scotland as being the most amazing and scenic Motorway Services. The store and food store are similar to farm shops and garden centre type stock.
I mean it's not a STANDARD service station... there is a reason their friend told them to check it out, there's about 4 of them at this sort of standard total (both sides at Westmorland and both sides at Gloucester).
A standard one is still MILES better than your average "gas stop", a standard one has a little standard supermarket like a corner store instead of the fancy kind, and will have an assortment of food retailers, for example a pasty shop, a noodle shop, a KFC, a kebab place, a McDonalds, a fish and chips place and a place with standard travel/medicine things like paracetamol, toothbrushes, screenwash for the car, travel shampoos, magazines, anything you are likely to have forgotten to pack and realise you need. All with a fuel station and toilets that don't make you gag from the smell stepping inside.
She definitely only touched on the toilets, and they're good, toilets in most service stations are pretty good and actually have doors unlike the weird saloon swinging sort of vague door suggestions in the US. I assume it was probably the same but last time I went to Gloucester (by the same company) and it doesn't just have toilets for men, women and a disabled toilet, there's also family rooms with small and big toilets for when kids need to go and the parent needs to fit in the room with them, a big baby changing room separate from the toilets (so men can also be parents), and something that surprised me last time I visited when it was night time and the cleaners had all the doors open (usually they're closed) is one of the rooms has an honest to goodness HOIST so that disabled travellers can get onto an adult sized changing table rather than having to lie on the floor if they need adult diapers changing or the like...
