Because tech now feels less like tech but more like a device made to control you.

My biggest problem is that every now needs an app, an account, a password, an update, etc. you can’t just walk into a fast food shop and order, you gotta sign up for the loyalty app, download it, get onto WiFi cause cell reception is bad, get into your password manager and set up a new account … etc etc. it’s just frustrating. I spent about 5 minutes struggling with a parking app recently because my city now requires an app to pay for parking. It’s madness.

The older i get the more i start to understand the amish

Something that’s also nice about having alternatives to tech or dedicated devices:
Significantly less exposure to ads.

Using older tech directly attacks the problem of e-waste too!

I think I speak for a lot of us when I say I’m fucking done with it all.

We don’t hate technology. We hate tech companies.

For Christmas, I got my wife a Polaroid camera and we’ve been taking pictures with our kids and starting to make a photo album book like we had growing up

I never left 1997. Its fucking great.

Old things don't require a monthly fee to operate.

With my feed constantly being full of how dreary tech has become it’s refreshing to see people are starting to gravitate towards an era of tech we took for granted. Great video 🤙

AI ruined the fun in technology

Finally cancelled Spotify and i feel free to

Nothing is repairable nowadays

😮‍💨 People are sick of surveillance, data harvesting, endless notifications, nudge tactics, live-service, fakeness and dependence on tech to do simple everyday things.

It all started when you have to carry and use a Computer with Internet all time, because the system (government and commerce) requires it... I still remember the days (early 2010s), hanging out with my friends living the best moments of our lives, capturing those moments using only a digicam...

Technology was supposed to make our lives easier, and to some degree, it did. And it also made it much more complicated. So many restaurants now don't even have a menu. You have to scan the  qr code. And when they start putting screens with the internet on appliances, or require apps to use them correctly, we've just gone way too far. When they started making normal features of your car require a subscription, they've gone too far.

I went back to wired earbuds. It took some time to adjust, but I love using them again!

My 2 cents about "why people tend to hate technology": because tech companies TODAY removes humanity from the products (unfortunately, even Apple, thanks Mr Cook for that).

No more design meaningful, no more quality in software and hardware, no more "uniqueness", and also "deprecated by default". You never had this feeling of "ho, my iPod software will be deprecated in 3 years and I will need to buy another one later....". No. It was reliable FOR DECADES.

People do not have nostalgia for this I think. You proved it: people who never knew this physical era tend there. Why? Because those things were built for humans, and by humans.

Thanks for that (human) video. Loved it <3

Tech today feels like it's out to get you. They constantly talk about replacing people and think that's a good thing.
