Joaquin Phoenix’s acting as the villain is chef’s kiss in Gladiator

one of the greatest movie ever. Russell Crowe was born to play this role

The reason Maximus takes two horses, and the reason the horse dies under him when he get home is that he's ridden all the way from the Rhine River in Germany to his estate somewhere in Spain (so all the way across France). He probably rode the first hose to death, switched to the second, and then rode it to death as well..

Were you guys entertained? I saw this in theaters when it came out. Incredible experience.

Joaquin said he was quite nervous making this film, but played the Caligula-like mad emperor so well!

You have to remember that Maximus at heart is a farmer and the soil is his life line to his home and family!

Fun fact: the actor who played Maximus’s wife, Giannina Facio, is now married to the movie’s director, Ridley Scott! They worked together in several movies before this one, began dating in the same year this movie was released and got married 15 years later! They’ve been together for about 26 years now and she still appears in many of his directed movies ❤

It's impossible not to cry at the end of this film. No matter how many times I see it!

The most honorable and emotional part is when all the men lifts him up and carries him off. Purest definition of Honor!

Damn, the end where Djimon Hounsou goes "I will see you again, but not yet, not yet" always gets me, thanks for showing us that part (I always dislike reactors that skip that part from the reaction, even if in Youtube). What a great movie.

The score is so powerful combined with that final shot of Rome.

This movie is a work of art. Flawless from the beggining. This film is why I love so much cinema, because you can tell when something is made with such a respect, the talented people around this project made a one in a million movie of all times. The sountrack was also the greatest actor in this, without this element probably it would be incomplete. Thank you thank you for this reaction! My mom is really happy to see this video, she remembers every line of this movie and loved your rection! ❤

The reason you might be conflicted about Quintas, he's the leader of the Praetorian Guard. That's who all of his men were. They are a special unit that is sworn absolutely to the office of the Emperor and act as his personal bodyguards.

He was friends with Maximus and didn't like anything Comodus was doing from the start, but the idea of doing anything other than exactly as the Emperor says (no matter who had ended up in the office) would have been almost unthinkable to him. Again, sworn to the office, not the man.

That's the only reason he was "helping" Commodus at all. The refusal to replace the sword in the final scene was the best he could do.
