As an American I have no idea what is it like shopping at a British grocery store. Today I want to check out what the experience is like at a Tesco in Britain, compared to in the US. If you enjoyed the video feel free to leave a comment, like, or subscribe for more!

The main difference between American and British/European supermarkets is that the latter sells edible food.

In Europe countries we use smaller containers because we have shops 5 minutes away by walk, not 1h by car like in USA, so we simply go shopping more often and get fresh ingredients when we need. Buying a gallon of milk that stay good for months should tell You something about quality of Your food.

It’s not a credit card, it is a loyalty card. Most shops have some loyalty system

I live alone and regularly buy teabags in boxes of 240. In fact I've got an extra box stashed away in case of emergency.

In Norway we buy 1 liter boxes made of recycling paper or 2 liter boxes of milk. And the durability of the milk is like 7 days in the refrigerator.

Inside a shop isn't a public area. Inside a shop you are in a private area open to the public..

the USA large packaging and larger content is what's led to 80% American obesity.

You need to know goods in the UK is not full of preserves or artificial flavours. fruit and veg are not sprayed with some pesticides as the toxins remain in the fruit and veg. we have smaller packages as items will spoil quicker without all the preservatives.

Tescos is the biggest most popular supermarket chain in the UK. The club card isn't a credit card but a discount card & you get 1 penny per pound points you can save up to spend later.

5:58 flags on your food are to indicate where it came from. British flag means its made in britain with British Dairy. Irish, ireland. Scottish, Scotland etc. alls applies to meat like beef and chicken

One of the reasons we have smaller packs is that many people walk or use public transport to get the produce home.

Most of these differences are down to our UK food being more perishable and less full of chemicals to give it longer shelf life. Most people I know food shop weekly not monthly, in London I find I shop every few days, my fridge is probably the size of an American cooler 😂

Packaging in Europe is smaller because we don't use as many preservatives.

6 UK pints is equivalent to just under a US gallon, and 6 pint bottles are available in many UK supermarkets.

"Who's out there eating apples?". I bought a bag the other day. I eat them, and other fruit, regularly - much better than stuffing party packs of MnMs!

The one thing we do in large quantities in U.K. grocery stores is tea bags. 80 bags is the minimum. You can find sacks of over 1000 bags in most supermarkets.
