Anyone else at the end of 2025 eagerly awaiting this year's update?!

I got to meet Dave in October of this year. Super nice guy. He took time out of his lunch break to play puzzles with my kids while my wife and I browsed the selection of prints. Afterwards he posed for pictures and answered all my questions. Again, incredibly nice and accommodating person. Can’t wait to go back.

I have to say how refreshing it has been to follow someone as passionate as Dave at Mokuhankan for the last few years. Speaking as someone who grew disillusioned with a career in art, Dave's knowledge and the fire of his love for Japanese woodblock prints is just inspiring. So glad 2024 was a huge year for the shop.

Why do I feel proud of an organization on the other side of the world? Historical creations being made, families being expanded, and... bellies being grown, all filling me with a pride about such an open, driven man creating something grand with those around him. Thank you for sharing this journey with us across the world!

Supporting young artisans to continue the tradition, great idea.

It’s refreshing to see someone not motivated by greed, but rather by pure passion to do a job the right way.

Mr. David Bull. You sir, are the Bob Ross of woodblock printmaking. Thank you for existing and giving the world such a beautiful and interesting YouTube channel. ANd also thanks for the unintentional ASMR.

I can't tell you how much I look forward to these

Gosh I love these update videos. Mokuhankan is such a comforting old soul in our age of fast production. Seeing all the ways in which the business has grown, changed, and struggled; it's such an encouragement to see that even a business I admire goes through confusing troubles much like myself! And to survive and thrive in what everyone once believed was an obsolete, slowly fading art is the best way to prove the world wrong.
In a way that's helped me pursue my dreams, because if Dave and his staff can make it happen in one of the most hardworking/difficult periods of growth I've ever seen, then we all can try our best too.

Thank you Dave & Mokuhankan!
Much love from your hometown of Vancouver.

I'm going to be visiting Tokyo on my own in June 2025 and at the very top of my list is visiting Mokuhankan. I've been an avid follower of your YouTube content for a little while now and I'm not ashamed to say that your business and videos are a big reason why I decided to visit Tokyo. I'm learning Japanese and very much looking forward to immersing myself in the culture and experiences that Japan has to offer. Thank you for everything you do - for us and for your team.

Thanks for the update Dave. We had the pleasure of a brief chat (I felt so guilty interrupting you) back in April and we came away with three prints that are now framed and hanging in our home, one of which (Sparrow and Peony) became very special to us in particular as a few weeks after returning from Japan we found out my wifes mother had terminal cancer and a few weeks later she passed, she was a keen bird watcher and lover of nature and really liked the print when we showed it to her. Hearing about your own journey as well through that and thankfully a happier ending for yourself at least confirms that there is right in the world, and you deserve many more years of it. Thank you to yourself and all the staff at Mokuhankan!

Dear Mr Bull, whenever I watch what you and your team have accomplished with such emphatic perfection the art of block printing I am in awe. I have always been an admirer of this old but imperial of arts and can say without doubt your art is absolutely beautiful, I am certain the old masters would be happy to have you as one of their number...🙇‍♂️ Thank you for doing your best.

Some people use a calander to track a year. I use Dave's year in review video 😂

It's so satisfying to see all the success you and your team have earned. I started following you around 2017, around the time when you made your post first asking for Patreon revenue... It's absolutely insane to see where things have got to. Happy new year, Mokuhankan!

Dave, none of this could have happened without your deep love and passion for wood block prints. We support you because we all want to be a part of the passion, to know we can own some small piece which was developed with such care, love, and thought. I hope you have a great 2025 and look forward to perching over your shoulder via twitch and youtube as you continue to show us how beautiful care, attention, and dedication can make the humble piece of paper.

Always a pleasure to see David making videos and posting on his Youtube channel. I've spoken with him multiple times whenever he was in Mokuhankan when I happen to be in Asakusa and he's been very kind to give me great recommendations for period ukiyo-e print shops in the Jimobocho area when I asked him for recommendations for specific historical pieces. Much appreciated, Dave!
