The simplest way I can explain the differences in the two movies is that Blair witch project felt like real people really getting scared, Blair witch felt like I was watching a movie with actors

I always thought it would have been interesting if they had it set in the ‘real’ world where people now know that the first film was fictional. A group heads out to the ‘real’ location and witchy stuff starts to happen but they have the background knowledge that the movie was not real. That way it would maintain that sense of realism and follow the characters having to come to terms with the insane idea that the Blair witch is actually real… or something else is out there.

My friends and I once did a double feature of the original Blair Witch Project and the Scooby-Doo parody and I think it was my favorite movie night we've ever had

It's pretty sad (and unfair) that the 3 original actors didn't get properly compensated for the ongoing financial success of the film - they contributed more than just being on-screen faces

1:11 “no way am i watching real life animals get tortured and killed” i think i love this man 🙏🏽 that was def a warning i wish i had b4 watching that wretched movie… the only thing abt that movie that resonates in my mind to this day as “disturbing” were the damn animal kills (especially that poor turtle that stayed alive and moving long after they ripped into the poor thing😢), i didn’t gaf abt any of the humans, and the fact that animals died for that horrible film, let alone any film, is disgusting. i can hardly stand when any movie “kills” off an animal in it, but to learn that it was all real, made me wanna js throw up and die ✌🏽

I don't really understand why anyone would think Heather was Bitchy or Annoying. Everything she does in the film is entirely believeable or justified. She films everything because at first she's making the documentary (and is borederline obsessed with that goal) and then as it goes on, she continues because it's one of the few things she has any control over anymore. Something that i thought was made pretty obvious (she pretty much says it herself verbatim).

Similarly, all the scenes where she tries to maintain composure and insists that they aren't lost aren't at all unbelievable. For starters, she's more than likely trying to also convince herself they aren't lost, and to admit it to the others would also mean admitting it to herself and cause a loss of hope. But also, if you've ever been tasked with leading other people through a place they're unfamiliar with, theres a certain sense of responsibility you feel to keep them confident and calm. Even if you aren't 100% sure you know where you're going, you also don't want to flat out state that.

They mixed it up, in the sequel they said Rustin Parr killed in the attic when he murdered them in the basement in the original.

Scariest part is how few views this awesome video has 👹

personaly the new Blair witch context and lore makes me love the original even more so much room for new theories

I saw The Blair Witch Project in August 1999.  I had just graduated high school that June, and only turned 18 a week before I went to see the movie.  I'll be 45 this July.  I must say that this movie was very scary when it was released, and because the internet was so new, so small, and kinda not something every lower middle-class home had.  I didn't even have a cellphone yet.  So for months it was a "is it real" or "is it fake" rumor mill that lead up to it's release.  When you watched it you had no clue whether you were watching a movie or actual found footage.  There was even a cable channel documentary on the Blair Witch that looked legitimate.  Looking back knowing the truth it isn't scary but in August of 1999 it was creepy AF.  Especially if you lived in the mountains.

Don't forget in the original they had actors in demon suits running around at night tormenting the cast. The fear in the movie is real fear. The sad part is the cast was also so scared they never caught the demon suits on camera.

I always felt time was involved in the first movie.

I mean they walk and they walk and don't seem to get anywhere and I seem to recall reading in some of the side material that the material that made up the movie were found in a backpack, buried under the foundations of the burned down Parr cabin and looked like it had been there for decades.

So, I think they went back in time, were killed in the Parr cabin before it was burned down and why no trace was ever found but their footage which was decades old.

Coming from a hunting family and then finding random places in the deer lease that had..weird vibes to say the least,
I'm suprised how bad they dropped the ball on something as simple as "walking around with nothing but trees around you mostly, especially at sundown, can be really creepy"

Part 2 was trashhhh but it had a couple good parts. 1. When they are walking in circles and run into the couple they told to leave and for them it’s been one day, but it’s been days for the couple. 2 when she snaps the sticks and snaps the back of the girl since her hair was in the symbol.

The Ritual is SO underrated!

The Erotic Witch Project was okay, but the acting in The Bare Witch Project was way better.

The weird thing about the sequel is that i don't remember hating it after i watched it, yet i didn't remember a single thing about it for years until I saw some of the clips in this video.

The Blair witch project was one of the scariest movie ever. Just the idea of walking in one direction for a day and finding yourself in same place you started is terrifying to me. Blair witch is far less scary to me because the acting and characters were far less believable I couldn’t get hooked

I absolutely love The Blair Witch Project.  I watched it do many times in the cinema back in the day. The realism and how believable it all was because it was so low key. I honestly can not stand a horror movie/ Found footage fan who can't appreciate that.

The only thing I liked about this sequel is the bit where they crush one of the wooden effigy figures and immediately one of the girls get snapped in half. That was creepy and cool. The rest of it was over done.

A recent found footage film that I really liked is "Horror in the high desert." I think that film really tapped into the bits that made the original Blair Witch so good.

Its scarier to hold on a dark hallway, with the implication that something is there.
Than have something actually leap out of the Dark Hallway.
