Please note that the pursuit car is a diesel powered Audi A6. Not a V8, not a muscle car, but a diesel car with well trained officers knowing how to drive that car fast.

It was a German rental car, so they contacted the rental company, told them what he had done with their car and they gave them his adress

I was a driving instructor for the police, providing driving training for traffic police and other specialized units. The driving course to drive these Audis takes four weeks; the replacement for these Audis is the Mercedes E450, which is limited to 290 km/h. This course prepares you for this. Inboxing is also part of the course. This involves closing in on a vehicle with three other cars and braking it to a stop.
Yes, a pit maneuver is permitted, but you do need to consider the safety of other drivers. Moreover, if you do this on the highway, you'll turn that driver into a wrong-way driver within two seconds, with all the associated dangers.

Dutch police can do a pit manoeuvre, but it's very rarely executed because of safety concerns.
Saftey concerns is also the reason why this persuit was cut and they decided to visit the man at home later that evening, with permission from the officer from the court of justice.

So for a bit more context: The police tried stopping the car earlier. That was the map view with the 2 cars on it. But he got away at an exit. Police wrote down the license plate though. The issue was that this was a rental car so they couldn't really figure out yet who was driving it. Then from the point where the footage is showed is the second time they saw the car. But this time they were ready and knew he was probably going to try and run.

It was a rental car, so the license plate didn't reveal the drivers identity. During the chase the police contacted the rental company and could get confirmation of identity. This made 'stopping at all costs' unnecessary.
The police tried to block his escape, but because of the dense road network and his random directions, they could not predict where he was going.
Boxing the car in between police cars was impossible because of speed and choice of narrow roads where the could not get a car ahead of him.
To not endanger the public, the chase was stopped and the court gave permission for an arrest 'outside hot persuit' at his residence.
He was prosecuted for driving without valid license, endangering road safety, traffic violations, and ignoring to stop on police command.
The area of west Noord-Brabant is very densely populated with an extended network of roads, streets and highways in and between cities/villages in an urban maze. Endless possibilities, and impossible to close off.
An amusing video and priceless reaction, thanks!

20:13 the p.o.s. says "I have no idea what you're talking about friend."

Cop responds: "Yeah, that would be my response too. And I'm not your friend."

Dutch Police did a great job here.

we can be so glad that there are people in this modern world who are still like warriors hundreds and thousands of years ago... and protect us...

Has an argument with several US Americans. They wouldn't believe that high speed chases in the Netherlands and Germany often reach 300 km/h (190 mp/h).

They all said I must be confusing kn/h and mp/h, meaning they max out at 190-200 km/h.

200km/h is cruising speed when the Autobahn is less frequented for me.

I gave them 4 video links as evidence with speeds ranging from 260 to 320. They refused to look at it, calling it fake.

Apparently he was charged with driving without a licence, dangerous driving and failing to stop on command

The reason they didn't catch him was also that it was too dangerous cause they were entering a city and there was massive amount of traffic.

I am impressed how calmly the police officer is speaking. It is just like any other day in the office.

Driving down narrow bendy A roads in Suffolk, I always panic a bit if police cars or ambulances come steaming up behind me, because sometimes if you are  on a blind bend , it's difficult to pull over & get right out of the way !

One of my son‘s school friend‘s father used to be a Autobahn police officer in Germany.
A highly stressful job. He had a massive heart attack after years of being on the job.

I recognize the images; it's interesting to see how people abroad view us. Great video! Keep in mind that Dutch roads are generally of excellent quality. However, with 18 million people, we are the most densely populated country in Europe (after Malta), so our roads are usually always busy. The police car in the video is an Audi A6 Avant 3.0 V6 TDi with a standard 286 hp and 620 Nm of torque "DDV engine." After chip tuning, it still has 340 hp and 730 Nm of torque—a seriously fast car. As a mechanic, I regularly work on this type of Audi.

This chase wasn't even 300 meters away from my home

@ the beginning: I come from Germany and don't speak Dutch but interestingly I understand a lot of what is written - very interesting that it has so much similarity to Low German

:goodvibes:It´s usually an "Audi A6 Avant" with 278 HP or 283 HP i believe🤥. Greets from Austria !

The Dutch police recently shared some video's of the type of driving lessons they give/get that might be worth a watch, because they come with subtitles. If you look up "Politie rijopleiding" you should find 2 video's from a channel simply called "Politie" (police) where they show a recruit getting lessons in overtaking, driving trough red light, etc.
