I'm starting to believe that everything there was completely STAGED, the US government agreed to nuke Atlanta for the experiment, they isolated that area with radiation and killer nanobots, the rest of the world outside of Atlanta is completely fine and all those people inside the silo are being studied.
I really think that Stensen and his creepy gang had that bomb set off. They effing nuked Atlanta to create chaos. They knew they were going to separate Helen and Daniel. I haven’t read the books so I don’t know what will happen I’m just counting on Jules and Kyle mainly but all our rebels are great.
There may be 49 selective breeding experiments. Russian researchers selectively bred wild foxes to discover how many generations it takes to breed domesticated foxes. It took about 12 generations to selectively breed foxes that are as friendly as dogs. They also bred a group of extremely aggressive and hostile foxes.
Daniel realized the texts from his “sister” wasn’t from her (because there was no dark humor when the parents were mentioned). And then the voice telling people to get into the silos was the same voice as The Algorithm.
This story is emblematic of how "the ends justifies the means will always fail." Doing harm for good will always end up justifying any amount of harm. In the end will it matter that a species lasted longer by force? By that metric we should all be imprisoned for our own survival.
The more you understand the books, the darker the Silo project becomes.
The 50 Silos weren't simply built as 50 shelters to save as many people as possible. They were designed as 50 separate experiments in human society.
Each Silo is isolated, its population is controlled, its history is deliberately erased, reproduction is regulated, and information about the outside world is restricted. Meanwhile, Silo 1 monitors the others and can intervene when necessary.
And here's the really disturbing part: The goal was never necessarily for all 50 Silos to survive.
The Silos are being observed and effectively tested against each other. Some will fail. Some will become unstable. Some will rebel. Some may be eliminated entirely.
The objective is to find out which type of controlled human society can survive for centuries without destroying itself.
That's also why the 500-year timeframe matters. It's long enough for the original generation to disappear and for roughly 20 generations to grow up knowing nothing except the Silo. At the same time, the technology that poisoned the outside world has time to become harmless.
So the experiment isn't simply: Can humans survive underground for 500 years? It's much more disturbing: Can we deliberately reshape humanity, erase its collective memory, control its reproduction and isolate entire populations for generations; and then determine which society is worthy of returning to the surface?
The Silo isn't a bunker: It's a human laboratory. And the people living inside it aren't just survivors.
They're the experiment. Its just like in Fallout, the Vaults are experiments to see who survives under certain circumstances.
if it's a plato's cave re-edition, the ending will be surely that, in the end, it was just them being buried while the world kept going withouth knowing.
I think the clue is when Troy was told to fly drones for 3 years and he insisted 5 years to be safe. 300 years for radiation becomes 500 years to be safe.
Those who are sent to clean ,,like Bernard who wore no suit .He had to pass through the first door where he was sprayed with certain gases (the poison) then after he goes out ,fire will burn the poisionous gases .This will ensure that even if he will survive the outside gases he wont die far from them point of view of the camera so others can see and be afraid .The silo were built in Atlanta only and then nuked by the US government and blame it on Iran .This was just an experiment for study .More so if you would agree with me , the rebelion that took place 140 years ago came as a result of memory erase as new people had to be added in the silo with there memory wiped clean .
I love how did his character he doesn't have much lines but those lines are so good When he first greets them and they tell him we already know who you are and he says ik but my team tells me I have to say this to ppl ( aka introducing myself and being nice ) that tells you everything you should know about this character
