39:02 As many times as I've seen it, I NEVER get tired of seeing that chair throw 🤣

Jonathan and Benny made some of my favorite parts in this movie

"Gorgeous people doing stuff" yeah add some adventure and mummies into the mix and you pretty much got it lol

Oh God, I am envious you get to experience this for the first time. This is like, the epitome of a fun popcorn flick, it was the late 90's Pirates of the Caribbean.

My Mum absolutely adores this film (and Arnold Vosloo). We live near a river, so "you're on the wrong side of the river!" gets quoted a lot, as does "juicy". 😄

The Mummy is one of my favorite movies. I love Rachel Weisz as the brainy, beautiful leading lady, Brendan Fraser as the adventurous man of action, and Arnold Vosloo as the chief villain. And I always get jumpscared when Jonathan is toying around in that damned sarcophagus, no matter how many times I've seen the movie.

Side trivia:

1.  In the scene introducing her as Ankh-su-namun, model/actress Patricia Velásquez was completely naked with the exception of a loin cloth, a few pieces of jewelry, pasties & body paint (body paint took hours to apply, which caused her to become ill and consequently/successfully request a bodysuit for The Mummy Returns, rather than go through the process again).

2. Brendan Fraser revealed on a recent episode of “The Kelly Clarkson Show” that he had a near-death experience during a stunt gone wrong while filming “The Mummy.” The Oscar winner said he was “choked out accidentally” during the scene in which he had to be hanged from the gallows in the Egyptian prison scene.

3. In the desert race to Hamunaptra, you see camels and horses. Horses are faster (on flat land), but camels are adapted to life in the desert. Even though they do eventually have to eat and drink, camels can live off the fat reserves inside their humps, their long eyelashes keep dust out of their eyes, and their feet are big and wide to keep them from sinking into the loose sand as they move.

4.  After Evelyn unknowingly awakens Imhotep by reading The Book Of The Dead (which is actually a funerary scroll in real life) and the locust swarm flies into the encampment at Hamunaptra, the locusts crawling on the Egyptologist are grasshoppers that were refrigerated to make them sluggish. On a similar note, the scarabs in real life were merely dung beetles, not vicious flesh eaters.

I like Johnathan in a movie called Sliding Doors.
Nobody's expecting the Spanish Inquisition.

Arnold Vosloo (Imhoteph) performs here a great villain.

As a librarian, the library scene always makes me laugh and breaks my heart.

John Hannah (Jonathan) is a GREAT actor, even if in this movie he just plays a supporting role. His portrayal of Batiatus in the Spartacus Starz TV series is outstanding as he manages to bring to life one of the most interesting and nuanced villains I ever ever seen depicted on screen.

15:17 Dora the Explorer: No, I'm the map!

Jerry Goldsmith. Best movie composer ever. And this is one of his best works, even though he didn't care for the movie, but that never stopped him from composing fantastic music.

I'm glad they went with a horrible roar for the mummy, so iconic. You could always tell when someone was watching the Mummy if it re-running on TV cause of that.

The bookcase toppling scene miraculously took only one take. Definitely a real time-saver, considering what would have to be done for multiple takes.

"I love the whole sandwall trick it was beautiful... Bastard".

The 1999 cinematic masterpiece The Mummy featuring Brendan Fraser and Racher Weiss?  Yes, please.

Watch the Mummy Returns as well!

Brendan Fraser would have been perfect to continue the Indiana Jones adventures as Indy and Marion's son.
Sadly, we never got that.

This movie highlights why I love cats so much.
