To be perfectly honest, I'm genuinely surprised of the outcome of my video. Reviewing has kinda tampered off for me, and isn't my favorite form of content anymore. I've always preferred to tell stories and do music videos, despite I'm aware my first video as a Brony, started with a review. However I can see that folks miss this form of content from me and that's flattering. So I may consider trying again in more reviews later on. I'm not promising to make it a regular focus, but I can softly say that it's back on the table once more, instead of being on the shelf. Thank you all for watching and commenting, regardless if you agree with the video or not. The outcome and reactions from everyone, have proven to me that these videos are clearly missed. I'll see if I can't look into more review interests for myself later on. Thanks again folks ^^

Catering to children isnt the problem

Treating kids like they're stupid and won't recognize a lazy product is.

There are three reasons why I couldn't get into G5. First was the colossal mistake of tying it to G4 and thus sending the LOVELY message, "Guess what, kids? Friendship FAILED." Second was the fact that every episode I saw seemed bent and determined to insult my intelligence- and kids don't like being talked down to, either. But third is this: G4 went out of their way to make their world seem ENORMOUS, with lots of people and immense variety of experience. The G4 movie's biggest blunder was making the world TINY. G5 doubled down on that in spades, and you indirectly reference that by noting the absence of so many of the other races of the setting in prior generations. Instead of a wide world to explore, you basically have each character's home town and nothing else with a very rare few exceptions. Never mind blaming reviewers for "killing the magic." You can't kill what was never there in the first place.

Lauren Faust isn't actually a part of the production team for G6. She was just there at the panel to give her seal of approval on the project. Apparently the creative team from one of the G5 shows is returning for G6.

I'm honestly gonna say that while that G5 fumbled over all, I still think that the main six had so much untapped potential for character growth. If they got the same treatment as G4, they could have SOARED as characters and as ponies. And if the executives didn't interfere, g5 WOULD have been actually good.

Glad to see reviews on your channel again, Blissy.

I completely understand G5 is not for everyone. Especially with how it got shafted, but for me personally, im able to look past what we didn't get and what we got and be satisfied with it. Don't blame you though, Bliss.

Side note, I adore you how you animated the intro! Its so well synced with the voice over, really impressive design and animation 🫶

It's nice to see a new review from you Blissy.

Wonderful Lightning Bliss!! Your words were very clear in the start of the video and I highly respect your stance on G5 :)

I'm so excited about the new series 😍

To me, I will always say that G5's fate was sealed the moment it was announced as a sequel to G4's continuity. That right there is a recipe for disaster just waiting to happen because it's setting up expectations it's either NOT gonna live up to or be chasing for the rest of its run time. Plus, that means it's technically not even a new generation if it's a sequel generation. It's just Gen4 2. Anybody who knows how toy line generations work can tell you that is something you should NEVER do because all it does is create potential brand recognition problems down the line.

I've been watching MLP since gen 3, its what I grew up with. I haven't seen any G5 except for the movie, and I gotta be honest, its the writing that kills it. It was dead on arrival since it was a sequel to G4. It should have been its own separate thing with new characters, new universe etc. Sure it can have nods to G4 and previous but it needed to stand on its own.

Yep. That face says it all. How did they SCREWED. IT. UP is something I wont understand.

One thing she said that I think the majority of the brony fandom can agree on, is that Misty Brightdawn represented the best of what G5 could have been .

Blissy’s face in the thumbnail says it all.

So glad you're doing reviews again

I saw the gen 5 movie two times; can't remember ANY songs. I haven't saw the g1 special flutter valley in years and knows the song '' From the sun! '' by heart. Not only the songs are more memorable and cute in g1 but the animation is old and charming 🥰

Great review, Lightning Bliss. I really enjoyed this vid, lol. I may not agree (as I REALLY love G5), but I respect your thoughts on it. I’m sorry to hear that you’re getting attacked by the more radical G5 fans. I hope I can assure you that’s not representative of the entire community, far from it. Thank you for making it clear that people can disagree on certain things like G5, yet still find common ground in the end. I feel like that’s an important lesson that’s lost on the internet nowadays. Glad to see you’re still kickin’ all these years later post-G4. Truth be told, I haven’t been caught up on you and the other fandom OGs. You know what? I think I should. 💙
