I love how there's basically a council of you historical costumers and content creators just hanging out on a group chat. And then you all just decide to go on a girls trip to a Hobbit LARP.

Abby really said: “I’m not like a regular nerd, I’m a cool nerd.”

@SamHollybrassEsq 10 months ago

Even though you were quite unkind to me, and threw water and onions at me... You'll always be my THIRD favorite of the Tomten sisters!

Abby "i worked at colonial williamsburg for years"
also Abby "i've never larped before"

(the part about not having the weight of history making it different makes sense, though ^_^)

LARP at it's core is escapism and community. Glad you had a great experience.

"What do you want to be when you grow up?"
"Kind."

Or just Abby Cox! ❤

The best part of this for me was hearing you talk about relaxing, being grounded, being unreservedly happy. 🥰🎉🥰

I'm really glad to see from this video that at least a FEW people of color were actually there. Most reenactment is not only very male dominated and war driven, it's also very white dominated as well. I mean as a black woman I have absolutely no desire to participate in Civil War reenactment or even a Revolutionary one. So when I saw this event I was hoping it would be more inclusive. Previously in all the pictures and videos I've seen of this event, everyone has been white or white presenting. It would be nice if the organizers focused on attracting a more diverse group of attendees.

OH MY GOSH! The AMOUNT of crafters and nerds that I follow and watch their content online! It’s like the crafty nerdy multiverse!

Also, did NOT expect to cry towards the end when Abby started to talk about how nice it was to just completely disconnect from her phone and reconnect with nature and fun, nerdy, creative community! As soon as the cow dung in the USA cools down and I can afford to do so, I am going to this LARP! It is officially on my bucket list!

"And she LOST HER FRICKIN MIND" You. Are. CORRECT. I DID.

Tomten means Santa Claus in Swedish. And Swedish Santa would probably fit in well in a Hobbit village.

Oh! This looks like camping with ✨Style ✨

I never liked the idea of larping BECAUSE of the fighting and the wars and whatever, Brandywine would fit right up to my alley, unfortunatly its like 10 years away from me. I guess I have to look for something closeby that would fit the vibe. its nice to hear you say "human nature at its core is kind" cause it is so true. I recommend the book "survival of the friendliest" by Brian Hare and Vanessa Woods, as they are delving into the subject of how humans evolve through kindness. Also, I love your storytelling and I LOVE your sweater where did you get it

I wish there was an event like this that was accessible as a wheelchair user. It sounds so amazinggg

Oooh, do you think they'd appreciate a hurdy gurdy playing hobbit hanging around? This reminded me so much of an SCA event. I also appreciate the unplugged feeling of an event like that. This looked so fun and lovely.

"We do whatever we want because we're fuckin 'Hahbbits' and it's amazing" 😆 Hell yeah we are! I'm so excited for next year. I've convinced the Spouse to come along with our youngest and be an oddball family of tinkerers: Think "Borrowers meets Weasleys". Seriously though, Nothing compares to this...that feeling of groundedness was SO beautiful. I haven't felt that present in the moment in ages. I can't wait for next year and join the stitch-and-bitch!
