"It's amazing to see people risk their own safety to not only capture these events but to help others in the aftermath.

Hi, Tornado Alley resident here. No house can ever truly be "tornado proof," especially against really strong tornados. The winds can be so powerful that it can raze, level, and erase the foundation of your homes. A brick house is not going to perform significantly better against a storm of that magnitude.

The golden rule is to get low against tornados. Preferably underground in a shelter. And if it looks like its holding still or not moving, it is likely moving toward you.

Love how people see a car crumpled like a ball of paper and think that "just make the houses sturdier" would make a difference, like bro, it's a goddamn tornado.

It's not that Americans make weak houses. When a tornado is strong enough and has debris flying around, it becomes a giant extreme sand blaster and just disintegrates everything it comes across. You also have whole trees and vehicles flying around at 250+ mph. At that point it doesn't matter how a home is made or what it's made of, it's being erased from existence.

I lived through two EF5s (the strongest type of tornado). Greensburg, KS and Joplin, MO. Had friends and family killed in both of them. In a video, tornadoes are awe inspiring. In person, they’re the biggest, most terrifying monsters you’ll ever encounter.

People who say "American Houses" don't know anything about tornado strength. These can be so strong that they rip chunks of your basement out of the ground. Some have been recorded to have ripped open reinforced storm shelters. Unless you want to turn your entire house into a metal bunker at least a mile underground, you cannot stop a Tornado from destroying your home if it gets strong enough. E4s can do so and an E5 WILL do so.

Some Tornados have been recorded leaving trenches in their wake because they're drilling into the Earth as they move. Nature is beautiful and terrifying.

Hurricanes and other natural disasters are nonexistent for us. So seeing how a tornado just shredds a house is both captivating and terrifying to look at.

Brick buildings have been turned to dust in large tornadoes, so no the only thing you can do is get out of the way of the storm by going underground.

When they were talking about a "couplet" at the beginning of the video, they were referring to a velocity couplet on radar. The radar they were using, aside from precipitation radar, was measuring the windspeed moving towards and away from the radar tower; they usually show as red and green, with red moving away from the tower, and green moving towards it.

However, when you see a red blotch right next to a green blotch that isn't close to where the middle of the radar is respective of the tower, it's very likely indicating a mesocyclone is there. Mesocyclones are what produce tornadoes, for the most part.

21:32 anyone claiming these houses are poorly built or that the material used is weak is extremely ignorant. A tornado of this magnitude does not care what your house is made of, it’s going to level it to its foundation. Olden day homes, modern day homes, multi story apartment, it doesn’t matter. Anything EF3 or stronger will rip it to shreds.

Honestly, good on the storm chasers for dropping everything to help.

The fact some tornadoes have gotten so strong they literally carve through the earth is horrifying. And it always makes me wonder half the time why people Chose to live in places / known places where tornadoes can spawn such as Tornado Alley.

You are now legally obligated to react to "Two Days in Moore, Oklahoma" by the very same EmpLemon that made you raise hell and praise Dale

Europeans completely failing to understand the destructive power of tornados and hurricanes should be a phycological study.

I live in central Texas, my apartment got destroyed by an EF2 in May '24. Seeing the destruction in my town from that makes me absolutely positive that I NEVER want to see EF4 or EF5 damage in person.

To answer your insurance question, they paid for all my stuff that got damaged I just had to document it with photos. And then had to find a new apartment to move to. Not sure the process if a whole house gets destroyed.

Even well build houses get swept away by EF4 and EF5 tornadoes. It's not just the wind itself doing the damage. Every piece of debris it picks up becomes a massive bullet flying at speeds of up to 300mph or more on rare occasions. Just imagine a car hitting a house at 190mph or a 2 by 4 going through a car like a railgun at 250mph. This is why they tell you to stay away from windows during a tornado cuz you could just end up like a scene in Final Destination if a piece of debris chooses you. So think of tornadoes as enormous pulverizing blenders of doom

13:30 That type of tornado is called a sidewinder and it's infamous for having a very fast, unpredictable path, sharp turns, doubling back, even hopping

The way it wiggles like a worm at 13:36 feels surreal dude

I think god is playing with his beyblades again…

Europeans are always like "Just build stronger houses" like, ya'll don't understand the power of an American tornado. An F5 Tornado has as much power as a nuclear bomb.
