Talking about horrifying movie sets whilst Kane just LOOMS behind him every time it cuts back really sells this

If I have a nickel for every time something cute and wholesome had an utterly horrifying backstory, I'd be able to afford making my own cute and wholesome thing that would inevitably have a horrifying backstory.

Mr. Goon visits the backrooms movie set ONCE and makes this

The interview with Kane on the wendigoon channel does NOT explain the room full of cardboard Kane cutouts lol

Can you imagine learning your teacher was literally the wicked witch?

Faking a heart attack to get out of school. My man.

oh boy i wonder what could possibly go wrong with painting skin using a paint full of heavy metals!!!

35:20 i cant listen to that song anymore without thinking of Judy's messed up life and time on set. Not only did she go through all that mentioned, everyone bullied her on set and Margaret was her only friend. She never got to be a child, just an actor shoved into the spotlight

Kane becomes the youngest cutout to be behind wendigoon at 20 years old

Small correction on Brandon Lee: there was no real ammo involved. See there’s 2 kinds of “ammo” used on a movie set - blanks and dummy rounds. Blanks go bang and have a normal primer, and gunpowder but no projectile, it’s just crimped at the end. Dummy rounds dont go bang but they look normal because they do have a projectile, but there’s no gunpowder and they use a fake primer (they’re supposed to anyway). Dummy rounds are for scenes where you need to show ammunition, because they look just like real ammo, unlike blanks. Unfortunately whoever made those dummy rounds accidentally made one of them with a real primer somehow. It didn’t have any gunpowder in it but with a real primer they basically made a colibri round - very weak ammo with no gunpowder, just the explosive force of the primer itself. They sell .22 colibri rounds that have little 20 grain bullets that are very slow (and useless for almost anything but paper targets), but they’re quiet enough to shoot in a residential backyard without getting the cops called (usually). The revolver used was a .38 special I think. So they’re filming and the guy pulls the trigger on a real gun he thinks only has dummy rounds in it, and one of them makes a pop sound when he pulled the trigger, which it wasn’t supposed to do. But it wasn’t gunshot loud, (and this was the 90’s) so nobody checked and nobody realized what had happened. The projectile had actually fired down the barrel some, it just didn’t have enough force behind it to fully exit because it only had the weaker force of the primer explosive, no powder. So the bullet got lodged halfway down the barrel and wasn’t checked before the next scene, which called for regular blanks to be fired while pointed at the actor. So when the first blank was fired the projectile that was stuck in the barrel suddenly had enough force behind it to exit the barrel at high speed (well, normal bullet speed) and struck Brandon Lee at close range killing him. So, all though the end result was similar to real ammo having been used on set (just with extra steps) it’s not accurate to say that’s what happened. Admittedly it’s much faster though lol.

Safety regulations are written in blood, usually because someone wants to cut corners (usually to save money)

I’m just here for Wendi’s mispronunciation of iconic actor’s names.

Brandon Lee's death is something that's always stuck with me. I'm a huge nerd for The Crow, the 1994 film included, and it's always so haunting and heartbreaking to see Brandon Lee on screen as Eric Draven, giving it his all, not knowing it'd be his last performance. It genuinely kills me to know he never saw his success. I fully believe he could've been at the same level as Keanu Reeves today.
Another unfortunate tidbit about The Crow is that the comics were based off of James O'Barr's experience of losing his fiance to a drunk driver, making the comic as a way to grieve and create a character who even after death, could still save his lover. And unfortunately his work about grief and love would take Brandon away from his fiance too.

7:23 because people believed they were done in good faith. The concept was novel and we didn’t have decades of bad remakes or cash grabs.

26:33 reminds me of the guys who avoided cholera because they just drank the beer at the pub they worked at

I remember getting to watch Wizard of Oz at a neighbor's house on their color TV in 1964. I was in 2nd grade. It was okay up until the tornado, which scared me (grew up in the Texas panhandle). But then the Oz segment came on with all the color and I was just in awe.

My late brother was an extra in several western and war movies. He was a reenactor and also taught gun safety (Weapons for Writers) and would lecture people on how to make sure the gun was safe before doing anything. He drilled that into me. When I saw the Baldwin "accident" I was horrified. Baldwin should have been in jail. The girl who was the weapons master should have cleared the gun first, but then Baldwin should have double checked it before aiming and firing it. This wasn't even with camera's rolling, it was a set up for the filming. There was no reason he shouldn't have cleared the gun and not even pulled a trigger. My brother had just passed away before that accident and I swear he was yelling down from his cloud in heaven "You idiot! You never pull a trigger without knowing what's in the gun and where the bullets are, and no live ammo EVER on set."

21:02 powdered marble sounds like it'll still give you mesothelioma 😬

The mispronunciation of Wisconsin towns never ceases to amaze me

i remember seeing a rerun as a kid of the mr rogers episode where he has margaret Hamilton on the show and has her explain the wicked witch so little kids wouldnt be scared of her anymore! she seemed like a sweet lady
