What’s your favorite Evil Dead movie that’s not officially an Evil Dead movie?

This was my first Sam Raimi horror film after watching his Spider-Man films my whole life. Him making it PG-13 was perfect for my seven-year-old brain.

DP Peter Deming is amongst the most versatile cinematographers in the business alongside Bill Pope (another Raimi regular), the man shot Evil Dead 2 and this one, also Austin Powers, Scream 2, Lost Highway, Mulholland Drive and recently a couple of episodes of Spider Noir.

My favourite moviegoing experience of all time was an all-night Sam Raimi marathon I went to with my sister and my best friend. It started at midnight and went to sunrise. Evil Dead, Evil Dead II, Army Of Darkness and Drag Me To Hell. They fit together perfectly. 👌

When I first saw this movie, I was shocked at much blood and gross-out horror was included given its PG-13 rating, but by the end I came out really enjoying it. It also proved that Sam “The Man” Raimi hasn’t lost a beat with horror/comedy and still has what made him such a memorable director.

I love Drag Me to Hell so much that I saw it in the theater twice and bought it on Blu Ray when it released. One of my top movies of 2009. The look on Justin Long's face at the very end is classic and priceless.

I watched this movie in the theatres in high school. Loved it, scared the shit out of me - the sound was CRAZY LOUD in the theatre which added to the experience.

I'm a little sad that you didn't discuss how this is basically a remake of "Night of the Demon/Curse of the Demon" (1957). That could have been incorporated into how that connects to Evil Dead as a franchise (mostly in its roots).

Honestly, the end bothered me. Here's what I might have done. From what I remember her boss pressured her into doing the bad thing so I would have made a way out for her via replacement. She gives up someone else. SHe gets free by doing something horrible which in turn also condemns her. Except this time she's more deserving of it. Having said that, you could slow torture everyone on earth to death and still not deserve ETERNAL TORMENT in a hell. Lets say 10,000 years for every person. It would be insanely long, but it would end.
