Great summary of costs. There’s always an unpredictable cost too 😉😃 We spend around 110 nights a year in our motorhome and our annual budget is around £10K. Very interesting analysis! Undoubtedly, traveling by motorhome is not for everyone, but it also has many advantages. For example, you can end up and spend the night in places where there are no hotels — like in the mountains. Another very important factor is the weather. If we don’t like the weather in one place, we can immediately check where it’s better and drive there. In addition, you can cook in a motorhome, and during long trips this can mean significant savings.😊🎉❤

You cant go to toilet in a Tesla? ha ha. Brilliant... But very true, you can't do these things in posh car's... I think I spend a little bit more per night but I only go on sites. Of course Fuel is the big one so I don't travel that much unless I have to so very much horses for courses. But another great informative video. Hope it helps those with an interest in Motorhomes.

We do our own habitation checks, in the past an official check missed some water ingress so have never paid for one again, Currently on an 8 mth USA trip  in our own UK camper, like to do oil changes every 5-7000 miles despite what the vehicle manufacturer may say, this is well worth the extra money as it greatly improves the engine life.

We have a Hymer bmc I 600 but we do like the N&B arto but would want an island bed I think , plus it’s another 100mm wider great van though safe travels

Interesting:

We have a self converted transit

We generally wild camp or use pubs who allow campers and staying in the car park,  we can do 7 days (2 people / 2 showers per day) on one water tank and one toilet tank

So we dont have the camp site cost as we dont really like them anyways

Insurance costs for us are similar,  fuel cost is more or less the same although we dont have gas cost as our heating, hot water and hob run off diesel.

Maintenance cost for us is more or less the same,  although I do all the work on it myself,  it has done 200,000miles so it aint a spring chicken so this could be a fair amount more if not doing the work yourself!

Our road tax is £345


But now we have it,  I wouldn't change it,  we take the dog away with us so no need to find accommodation which allows pets,  always have our comfortable mattress instead of some horrible cheap airbnb mattress and the familiarity our it.  And even using it for family events (We recently went to a family wedding in which the venue couldn't accommodate enough people, we parked outside and could enjoy a drink and a party and a few steps outside to get to bed).  

I would recommend it to anyone,  I am a fan of self conversion as can do it to your taste/requirements, but be aware if its your first time it wont be your last as you will find stuff that doesnt work as well as expected:-D

Less adventure in a hotel room

We don't go abroad its way to expensive we just book a package holiday its a lot less hassle and wear and tear on the van also milage we stay uk only

I'm all for looking after my motorhome myself as I'm fairly competent Engineer.
I was wondering was tools (test equipment) you use to pressure test the gas system and what electrical test equipment to check the electrical system ie the RCD trip response time as well as insulation resistance? Thanks
