I remember Joe Frazier talking about how he used to work on a heavy bag hung from a big oak tree.  He said that he hit that bag hard enough to shake the whole tree.  In their next fight, Frazier said he hit Ali harder than he hit that bag and Ali just stood there and looked at him!

Ernie Shavers was the ultimate professional in this fight. So respectful of the rules.

Ali was SO over the hill in this fight and still Shavers could not put him down . After this and older Shavers put a Prime Holmes down .

What struck me most about this incredible match was the respect that both fighters showed each other - right up to the last second.

In my view both were victorious. Points don't always mean everything.

Ali was always my favourite boxer but both gentlemen here fought a legendary battle.

My earliest recollections of Ali was the late 60s and Me and dad watched him all through the 70s he was our favorite. At 60 I can tell ya that as you age, your reflexes are the first to go, and as you age you only see half of what you use to see coming. In his prime Ali would have slipped most of those punches from shavers.

Feel like I'm watching Marvin Hagler against Ali.  Ali still so classy, many more accurate punches, versatility, movement all the gifts.  The Master even at the end.

Apart from probably one of the highest ring IQs Ali could also take a punch.  In this fight I think he knew he couldn’t knock Shavers out so he just peppered him with taps and racked up the points.  IMHO the greatest…

Crowd cheered to shavers from the beginning, shavers counted stars in the end 😂

Just every bit of amazing this man was.  Just like his friend who died a month earlier, Elvis.  Both men were actually BIGGER than their 'images' ....and had two of the greatest senses of humor ever (i.e. the way Ali was teasing Shavers at the beginning of this fight as if saying, "LET me AT him!"....THAT'S hilarious!).  Imagine being as funny, skilled and 'pretty' (truly a unique, TOUGH physical specimen) as Muhammad was....and KNOWING that he was actually the greatest....the ''BIGGEST' of 'all time'.  Crazy wild.  For/To a mere mortal like me.

Respect to them both❤❤❤❤

Ali won the 15th round, and that was the difference in the fight.

I saw a compilation of all of Ali's KO's once. In one fight he was wearing tassels on his shoes and his footwork was incredible! He would dance around the ring like a master choreographer. The camera showed his tassels going  clockwise in synchrony, then, with a little stutter step they were swinging counterclockwise. Then the coup de gras: he had them swinging in opposite directions, his opponent glanced downward, distracted and amazed, and Ali knocked him out cold! Incredible!

Ali was the biggest, in the hug...😊

During one of the last rounds, ALI did dlip-- I remember that. So definitely I did watch this match in the past ,the year when this happened intislly.
