I think every company that forces salaried workers to work more than 40 hours a week is diabolical.

I love this channel so much! It really feels like getting corporate career advice from an older sister

Subscribed and thank you for the clear breakdown. I’m still early into my career and this gave me something to really think about.

I don’t believe that your dream was crazy, I thought it was a tangible and attainable goal. I want to do something similar as well!

I appreciate that you are open and honest with your experience and intentions, i feel far too many people never have the courage to stand their ground and fully pursue their goals and aspirations like you have, congrats on making it to Germany btw.
Thank you for sharing your story and I hope it can inspire others who might feel like you did when you were working at Google.
Cheers! <3

Software engineers need to unionize.

This was what happened with Steven Sinofsky at MSFT when he pitted the Windows team against other major divisions within the company.  Internal Hunger Games indeed.

Omg i used to watch your previous fashion videos, but this format is also great :)

Since RTO enshitification of companies. All companies.

Wow, another banger! I love these Big Tech videos so much. Even though it’s over, it was great while it lasted and clearly had such a big impact on your life.

I also really related to your point about not making the company you work for your identity and prioritizing your own goals. At the end of the day, companies can replace us anytime.

I have a slightly different question: I’ve had jobs I really liked, but also had to take some that weren’t exactly my dream job because I needed the money. I feel like my motivation and work ethic has dropped a bit in those situations. How would you stay motivated in a job you’re not super passionate about, especially when the job market makes it hard to move on? But also worried the lack of motivation can affect performance

I can totally relate to what you said around 5:50 mark, that my loyalty completely disappears when I realize that the company isn't going to enable my goals and dreams.

Came here from the other video about lessons for working in corporate. As someone who also carries a dream of settling in a different country (France!) I'm so happy that you made it out to Germany and are starting a new life there. It's known to be a tough country among expat/immigrant circles, so I hope it goes well for you.

And the point about "Google being a metaphor for any situation in your life that is holding you back." is totally on point. For a lot of people that might a job, a relationship, but for me it was investing all of my 20s and early 30s into making my immigration to Canada work out. Like you are with Google, I'm grateful for all the opportunities it gave me; I even became a very patriotic citizen. But when I got down to being honest with myself, it was not the place I wanted to continue living in for the rest of my life.

good luck

I was at Google for almost 10 years. It was the most amazing, rewarding, and transformative period of my career. But it was never the same after Larry and Sergey left. I left a few years ago, and would never go back (did they really kill memegen??)

So you think Google as an investment in the future is not worth it?

again such great insights and interesting perspective. To answer your question at the end of the video: i will start at google dublin as i think it will enable me to achive my personal dreams (getting into big tech in NYC). I think everybody is on his own timeline and has to find his own way and path to achive the dreams that they have.

Greetings from Munich, I hope you also enjoy oktoberfest currently! ;)
