"I was looking for a job, and then I found a job
And heaven knows I'm miserable now "
Morrissey

You sound like me and I am going through all this again in my 50s. I will follow your journey. Thanks for the video.

I am 40 and unemployed for over 18 months now. Part of me is stressed and wanting stability but part of me enjoys the free time, managing my own time and plans and being able to rest and do nothing if I want to. Part of me wants to come back to routine and being part of a something (workplace) but part of me can’t be bothered with human interactions and reporting to someone.

I was made redundant from a job I loved and I felt was part of my identity and that I took pride in. Nearly 15 years of hearing we are a "family" only two people contacted me after to say bye. It hurt in multiple ways and i'm not sure I can ever put back the walls that it shattered and broke down. Now i've fallen out of love with the work I loved completely and i don't know why I would want to do the fake being social and sitting beside people i'm spending the majority of my life with that wouldn't even want to say goodbye to you if you left. The promise of a career now is just a hollow promise of things that don't mean anything to me.  I have resolved to try and create my own business and only do it with people that want to do it with me. In a weird way I'm thankful to my redundancy for making me aware all this otherwise i might of continued as is until retirement and maybe there might of been a blissful ignorance in that but hopefully now I will find something more.

I think you've realised that sitting in an office just isn't the job status that you once thought it was.

I'm not sure of the last time I watched a vlog that was this aspirational. I love the fact that you don't paint the picture with unnecessary color, and you tell your story just like how it ought to be.

The aspiration of permanent work and a flat is fucking dead. When people say "dream job," there's a mucus-like expulsion in my throat.

Thank you for just being authentic because, in truth, there are very few truthful things you can come across these days, particularly online. So, yeah, well done. I'm subscribing.

Thank you for candidly sharing your story. I've been going through the same feelings. Sometimes it can come off as ungrateful in such an unstable world. But you are right to follow your heart.

You are still young, but as 50 years old I advise you. Try to find something permanent because after you 40/45 everything will be tougher...We are older we nned more money to keep us younger and healthier...Our body also will become weaker and more slowly... Being nomad is good for 20, not if you are closer to 40...

I’m 43 and working on my 2nd career. Lately I have been feeling the same thing as you, the only difference is you had the courage to break free while I’m still tied down to my 9-5 (my security) 😅

Worst part about starting a new job is what's required. Fitting in and finding your place within the company, and the onboarding, training, etc, it's too exhausting 😂

Lovely. 35 is young! With a lot of luck you will have another 60 years ahead. So yeah, 35 is young. All the best! 👍😊

Very cool! It seems like you were striped of a safe life and you know deep down that the social contract is broken, so you’re not willing to play ball.

Thank you for sharing this and being so honest. I'm the same age in wildly different circumstances but feeling similar to you ❤. I'm trying to find my next step, lots of options. We'll see where things go.

There is no such thing as stable and low pressure as far as fulfilling is concerned. What we want is high fulfillment and permanent. That is much harder to obtain these days.

My last office job was in 2018, a 4-week contract. Never going back to serfdom.

You must have a lot of friends to keep off the street.  I worked and retired at 60.  Wasn't great, but needed a roof over my head, food, sense of purpose.  Had a great time from skydiving to getting my pilots certificate and traveled around the US on my motorcycle.  All paid for from my jobs.  Plus I don't have any worries about anything in retirement except staying healthy.   Good Luck.

I mean... you've got a job. It's been 8 months of job hunting for me and the stress is insane. Maybe you don't enjoy your job, but you probably enjoy having decent meals, a roof over your head. I'd cut off several of my fingers to be in your position.

Maybe you can consider being a house sitter. They don't always pay,but you can find a good mix of pay and unpaid.

i'm 26 and after dropping out of college at 19 after a mental breakdown i finally got a job and am going back to school.

the job was enough for a few months. i was distracted by all the new skills i needed to learn and getting to know my coworkers.

but now, almost a year into being hired, the cracks are starting to show. i often find myself wishing i could just live on a ranch somewhere and grow tomatoes.

i think this is just another example of that one life truth that is said a lot but you cannot understand until youve experienced it: happiness does not come from outside yourself. it comes from within.

until i find happiness within, the cracks will always reopen. all i can hope is that it will never be too late for us.

I got a job after 2 years of looking and i am now thinking of leaving :D I dont like it anymore too
