I have too much! fabric declutter timeeee

The fabric mountains have been growing in the studio for the past 6 months and it finally reached the point I could no longer even see I had a sofa, and so it was time... to declutter 😵

As tough as it was, I love having the room tidy again (and being able to sit on the sofa once more), my only task left is to actually sell on all my old fabrics 😅

"I have ideas" - the enemy of decluttering, but si much fun

I enjoy watching others clean up their space and often feel inspired, but it's a lot more fun to watch than to do! You've done a good job.

I would love to see a garden apron. Perhaps with flower-shaped pockets, I think that would be cute

me, watching you with a pile of ribbon and such: ooh i would love to sort that out! i love sorting and untangling! ...until it's my own stuff, then i don't

and you realising you had only left two fabrics out of of the keep pile after going through the fabric closet is so relatable! i'm also a bit of a hoarder like that because "what if i can use this for something" and "i have ideas!"

This was way too relatable 🥲

It would probably benefit you to wrap the trims and tassels around cardboard. That way they're more likely to stay in shape and you can measure and label how much you have of each one

Incredible job! That scrap pile was mammoth. You have really beautiful fabric and can't wait to see more projects. Thanks for sharing. Hopefully organizing has replenished your creative juices.I'm all for seeing your version of a scarecrow outfit!!!!

For easy ribbon storage: get yourself a piece of a bigger gutter with endpieces. Mount it on the wall, then put the ribbon spools upright into it and let the ends hang over the rim. You can see what you need on the first glance and just pull out what you need.

I'm really excited to see some patchwork projects!

Ooo maybe a selkie/flowy dress for the gray fabric with embroidery? The fabric looks beautiful

The timing of this video is impeccable. I've been a yard sale antique junkie for years. Having just retired 2 weeks ago, I started going through my items to declutter. Quite honestly I'm doing much worse than you in giving up my little trinkets, but your video is giving me motivation. It was a bit cathartic to watch, so thank you!

The grey scalloped fabric would look rly cool as a moth-inspired fantasy dress! Maybe as a cape or an overlay over a mostly grey patchwork skirt 👀

It looks amazing 🤩 you did fantastic! And to anyone cleaning along, you're doing great too! The hardest part is just starting

I finally got to working on my craft room! I decided I need a better vessel for scraps. I tend to toss all my off-cuts into a bag while I'm sewing because it lives at the end of my ironing board (which is also my patterning and cutting table). I bought an open-topped clothes hamper on wheels so I can easily move it to get at the bookcase behind it. I found a lot of large pieces in with the scraps. Going through that bag makes me feel a little like an archeologist! Thanks for inspiring and motivating this cleanup!

The medieval curtain could be turned into a tabard, maybe? It might also be fun if you made cushion covers with the matching cushion pieces, then sat on a couch with those cushions on it in your matching tabard and blended in.

I feel a little less shame in my fabric hoard and workshop, knowing this is a universal experience 😂 i reallyyy need to tackle it as well (saying this as I just now washed the last of 8 fabrics i bought A YEAR AGO)
