I still don't know whether this corselet is Victorian or Edwardian, either way it's cute as heck and I friggin' love it!

For an under bust corset belt, it is surprisingly comfortable to wear, and goes with 80% of my wardrobe so I will be wearing this a lot form now on (you know, once I actually finish sewing the eyelet holes in).

Love this! As I've just come out off the french-knot-heavy-tree in the embroidery I'm working on, I'm in awe of the number of consecutive french knots you were able to do without completely losing your marbles! And the beaded berries are so cute! That mixed-media vibe and the idea of embroidering onto corduroy has really inspired me! And I'd love to see the embroidered-dungarees idea!

I think the best part is the addition of the spiderwebs! The whole piece is fantastic, but that little touch of whimsy is the cherry on top!

Pet the fabric. If it is smooth going top to bottom, that is the right direction of the grain. Like velvet. You just want to make sure all the pieces go in the same grain direction or it will show a different color if they are not in the same direction. That is the situ with corduroy and velvet.

I started this video thinking "Oh good, she's giving herself a break by working on a smaller project after completing a bunch of bigger ones" And then you talked about the days and days and days of embroidery you had to do for this "smaller" project ha ha. Nothing more relatable than massively underestimating the amount of work that a project needs, I've been there too many times to count.

I agree with you - I think of these kinds of corsets as finishing belts/ swiss waists, which were Edwardian moreso than Victorian.

I LOVE this. It turned out so cute! LOVE the spiderwebs. Wouldn't it be cool if you beaded a spider into one? Just a thought. Can't wait to see what you do next...hopefully when your fabric arrives!
