Watching this one was a joy from start to finish! Even Mushroom was getting in on the fun! And so many great quotes! Who was your favorite character? I'm leaning toward Brian's mother but there are too many to choose from!

Yes the song was written for the film. It's developed it's own life since.

You made my day, showing the soft spoken rambling street preacher 😂 no other reactors show that guy ❤

Of course Mushroom wants to play. He's a fun guy.

That impromptu Latin lesson never gets old. Too funny with the little ear-grab and Brain's palpable fear.

"How shall we f**k off, oh Lord?". Pretty much sums everything up.🤣

35:37 - this is why anyone over 40 was laughing so hard in the theater the first time you saw Dune: Part 2

"Crucifixion?" "Yes"

For the cat scratches I recommend a leather cuirass, as modeled by the legionnaires in this movie.

The old man at the stoning was also the murdered famous historian in Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

The Welsh town of Aberystwyth banned the film when it was released, years later the ban was lifted by the towns new mayor, the woman who played Judith, George Harrison of the Beatles put up most of the finances for this, and had a small cameo in one of the crowd scenes.

What Sweden said about this movie, at the time: "So funny it was banned in Norway!"

Every reactor when Brian falls off of the tower: "What?!?"

25:00 "It's like a sketch show where the actors are trying not to break and their co-stars are trying to break them"
Actually, the Biggus Dickus scene was filmed as a try-not-to-laugh challenge, where the extras didn''t know what was coming and where trying desperately not to laugh...

2:33 Mushroom: “I demand popcorn now, peasant—or there will be consequences”. 😂

It's great to watch this with someone who gets the references, like one to "I am Spartacus!"

Yes, the song was written for the movie. When Graham Chapman died in 1989, the surviving Pythons sang it at his funeral.

Norway banned the movie for a year after its release, and then insisted on an "18" rating, and warning message from the censors at the start of the film. It has been marketed in Sweden as "The film that is so funny that it was banned in Norway!"

The song was written by Eric Idle from Monty Python for this film, who sings it at the end. Also he was friends with many well-known musicians, including George Harrison from the Beatles that has a bit of cameo in the scene starting at 29:24.
Harrison also significantly funded the movie after it was refused by many studios due to risky themes and when Idle told him he may never get his money back he simply replied "I don't mind, I just want to see the film".

Because the group The Beatles had a hand in helping make this movie with financial help, they had Stan wanting to be Loretta, Loretta is from the song Get Back by The Beatles
