Another great video mark , and the choice of the colour banding on the SG-38 is perfect .

Great video, as always. A smear of Vaseline applied with a cocktail stick is another way of keeping the epoxy off the hinge pin. Also worth cutting a small 45° V to allow the hinge to insert just a tad into the slot, this allows for a slightly smaller gap on the control surface.

Great video mark, for adding a small amount of nose weight I've used a solid brass prop nut before now which weighs one ounce. I like your idea for drilling small holes each end of the hinge line, but instead of using a knife I cut my hinges out using a hinge slot cutter which actually removes wood and avoids the balsa bulge as you mentioned. I like the tip for using oil on the hinge. In the past, I've used vasiline, which works just as well but isn't as controlled 👍

Great video, as always, Mark. I find that when fitting "real" blade hinges, an aluminium nail file is the exact thickness as the Kavan HD hinges. You just snip the smooth front part of the file off and then push it in to make room for the hinge blade. I also used to have a points file (from the automobile industry - not used any more) for thicker hinges.
