After years of flying with my old club, uncertainty forced a tough decision — leave the RC hobby behind, or find a new place to fly.
I chose the skies. This video marks the start of a brand‑new chapter at Gateshead MFC, one of the friendliest and most welcoming RC flying clubs in the North East. If you’re into RC planes, model aircraft, club flying, or you’re searching for RC clubs in the UK, this video gives you a proper look at the fun to be had at the strip. The members made me feel right at home from day one, and I can’t wait to bring you more RC flying action, build updates, maiden flights, and club banter from my new home field.Favourite tipple in hand — sit back, relax, and enjoy some RC fun at Gateshead MFC.

Here in the Netherlands I’m a board member of a club of over 100 enthousiasts. Flying from a former naval base for over 70 years. But alas soon they start developing 5600 houses there and we’ll have to move.
So far no cooperation from the local council for an alternative and we’ve been looking for a new location in other areas for several years now.

I'd've thought there'd be a mass migration to Gateshead, since the 2 clubs are so close.
Some great planes on show here. I've a feeling you're going to enjoy this, Mark, & I'm sure there'll be plenty of old pals there.
Nice one Sir! ✨🌟👍

Good to know you've found a new place to indulge our shared passion for messing around with toy aeroplanes 😄. I hope your new venue and a bunch of new friends enable you to continue posting for the benefit of all us aeromodellers who support the channel and all wish you well. BTW any chance you could put up a video of the SG 38 flying, someday?

Congratulations on your new club Mr Croucher Sir. You appear to be in great and skilled company. It reminds me a little of my old club with the Sun in front. Sadly, this country (in my experience) has never been very accomodating to hobbies of this kind. Whether its Model Flying, RC Cars, Model Boating or similar its always been a struggle to find, create and hold onto sites. Hobbies and pastimes like this are so important to wellbeing but are given little or no priority by authorities.

Here in Edmonton , Alberta we have lost 4 rc flying sites in the last 3 years due to noise complaints or new developments. I got rid of all my fixed wing planes and have been messing around with a sub 250gram dji neo 2 which is legal to fly at the local school field. RC in general over here is being so heavily regulated in order to ensure the future skies are clear for commercial drone deliveries it's hardly worth getting into the hobby any more.

That looks like a great field and the grass looks perfect! Glad you found a welcoming club. Sad that we're losing so many sites. I try to welcome spectators and show my planes to the kids. We all need to be "ambassadors" so that the non flying public will take pity on us when they try to convert our fields to pickleball courts. :(

Very Glad to hear you have found a new club to keep your passion for flying going Mark.
A shame regarding the prior windmills site , However nothing new in that regards ,, I can only recall the times in the UK flying at many of the old derelict R,A,F bases ,, But of course Most of those places have now since been taken over by housing estates ,,

Anyway here's hoping to many more great vids from that club and indeed futher progress on your projects ,, 👍

Cheers'
Gary

Sorry to hear about your old flying site but it does look like you have dropped in just right with the new club Mark. A great selection flying including helicopters. I look forward to seeing some new videos from your new club.

What a pity that you can only fly from Club sites now. I did fly from Ch.le.Street in the 1970's, I remember seeing a 10cc Spitfire flown by George who worked at the Motor Parts Delivery place in Durham, and he was a God with proportional radio haha, but in those days you could aviate pretty much anywhere. The Aycliffe club had a great site beside the Main East Coast railway line...you would probably be arrested for being anywhere near there now.
