the tube can get VERY hot in summers...and in heat waves they sometimes close it completley...it's not SAFE for people to be down there in that sort of heat.

A dozen eggs here in Wales is £2.50 or $ 3.40 dollars as of now 19/08/2026. A/C , until recently ours was a very mild summer. It's only in the last few years we have found the need for it .

The AC LOL. Well for many years the UK has not NEEDED AC...we have cold winters and our autumns are relatively chilly and windy as well and spring is pleasent...and summer is the only time we MIGHT need it...but it's unlikely, our peek temperature doesn;t rise that high. But in the last 25 years or so the heat has been getting worse and worse...we've had several heat waves...some of them in consecutive years. We are only just starting to discuss how heat is becoming a problem. we are using more solar powered technology now than we used to and some modern houses have technology to ventilate and keep things cool. my brother's house is liek that but his is modern and they had it built from the ground up...so it's easy to install a ventilation system if you planned the house yourself. many houses in the UK are old and are not designed for AC, they are brick houses...cold stays in...heat stays in...depending on time of year.

I saw something the other day that said that in the UK, despite our food standards, which are quickly deteriorating, we have the most processed foods in the whole of Europe. £17 for eggs is scary though knowing that food prices are going up and up and up. I agree with that young woman ... the last 3 months with the heat has been brutal, ... now i just want a cool damp dank cave to live in and just potter and pootle and mooch about in there. I'd say 2026, maybe 2025 has been the first time we've really needed AC.
