There’s no beginning to this man’s talent

Living proof Eric Roberts never refuses a script.

Its been too long since we had a proper Kermodian rant.
Thank-you Michael Flatley.

The film's existence is worth it just for the sake of this review, it's everything I hoped it could be

I do hate when Kermode sits on the fence like this :(

The best part of that fight scene is one of the actresses watching the fight visibly barely containing her laughter. I can't believe they just kept that shot in.

If I had no idea Michael Flatley was responsible for it, I would have mistaken Blackbird's trailer for a Garth Marenghi production(!) 🤣

Even before we get to the film, the name of his company Dance Lord Productions sets my teeth on edge.

So this film is basically that episode of the  Simpsons then Mr Burns self financed his own movie  'A Burns for All Seasons' directed by Señor Spielbergo. Burns also bribed the judges to win the film Festival.

'Michael Flatley takes out with his bare hands an opponent who is literally the size of a wardrobe, huge, musclebound... but when he comes at Michael Flatley ... Michael Flatley has written himself a role in which he can beat the daylights out of this person'.

I'm in tears!

I assume he bribed the judges for that award, it is the most logical explanation.

I saw this earlier tonight at a busy Prince Charles Cinema. The audience started laughing at the opening credits, then continued to howl at every terrible line, smouldering look or jaunty hat. It's the worst film I've seen since The Lonely Lady starring Pia Zadora as an aspiring screenwriter. Both jaw droppingly awful movies starred a lead who can't act. One of our group loved Blackbird so much he's going again tomorrow and taking more friends.
I'm certainly going again. It's a cult hit in the making.

Mayo: 'Is it worth seeing for a laugh?'
Kermode: 'No.'
Me: 'I think I want to watch it for a laugh'

I saw it last night with my friend. Two other people were in the screening. My friend and I were in stitches 😂 The guy in front of us started losing it too and the other guy left during the final act. I think It's worth seeing for a laugh just see it with someone.

"We've said before you can make anything look good in a trailer ... apparently not." That diss should be etched in platinum and put on display.

I went to see the movie yesterday. I had to walk out 30 minutes in. Never walked out of a movie before. It was torture. It’s not even worth going to see it for a laugh… if you want the fog of depression to engulf you, to lose the will to live,  then go for it, it’s been over 24 hours since I saw Blackbird and I’m feeling so low. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.

Flatley gives me the impression he would like people to stand and applaud when he enters the room. I reckon he's the kind of guy who never asks the question "What is your name?"

"We've said before, 'You can make anything look good in the trailer', apparently not"
LMFAO

"Is it worth seeing for a laugh?"
"No"

Pity, because the 2-min trailer had me in stitches with the scene of Mr Flatley broodily walking away in the rain, and you could see the "rain" was only falling on him and not the adjacent path or lawn.

Also, those infamous inaugural Monaco Streaming Film awards in 2021. Funny how there was a 'best actor' award  but no 'best actress' and also funny that the 2021 awards have been scrubbed from their website. And also how the company behind the awards is incorporated in less sunny but still shady, Ireland.
