I don't know why people think "I can't write LGBTQ characters they're too complicated!!" Or like any minority because you literally just need to write a normal character and then make them whatever trait. It doesn't require you completely making their personality or backstory revolve around whatever they are

0:05 LSP Being put twice LMAO

I actually LOVE OC x canon. I have multiple ships like this. But I don't like when its all that oc. They need more quirks, backstory and goals outside of their spause

Chloe is one of those instances where becoming a redeemed bully probably would've made her more interesting. She was the wielder of the bee miraculous at one point, imagine her as France's new superhero. It'd also be better than her still trying to come between Marinette and Adrien. About making OCS that revolve around being gay, I try to avoid that with my characters. Fiona for example is bisexual but that only gets mentioned once. There's a lot to her character besides her sexual orientation like how snarky, bold, but caring she is. How she's a prodigy when it comes to playing the flute but wants to be known for her other talents as well, and how she doesn't worry as much as her friends Josie, Evie, Julie, and Stella. She's the least likely to take threats seriously.

I dont really get the fetish one tbh. There nothing wrong with most fetishes. If you dont like it thats fine, but kinks and fetishes are completely normal and we shouldnt be shaming people for indulging in them. Obviously if theyre projecting it onto real people who arent okay with it thats bad, but none of the examples here were doing that. :l

How to write a good LGBTQIA+ character 101:
Step 1: Write a complex character with personality traits, connections, and a backstory.
Step 2: Make them LGBTQIA+
Step 3: Profit

About the LSP:

This movie is a satire. It's not meant to be taken seriously. The title itself could already tell that. So I don't think that making Saira's main trait being a lesbian is a bad thing, because she isn't meant to be written as a person you could meet in real life.
Besides, this movie already has enough of critice and, honestly? I liked this movie. It's not my favourite movie, I also don't love it, but imo there are MANY other things or series that deserves the hate more than lsp

Honestly what grosses me out more than blatant f3tish in all ages media, is when it's literally shoved in your face, and then the character is infantalised on top of that.
For example I've seen SO many big chested girl characters be included in freaky jokes and obvious fanservice with HUGE breasts only to be babied. Same with the "huge muscles mantits man" trope. So many of them have muscle so big that realistically they'd have trouble moving, their abs and chest are shoved into your face, they're constantly used in fanservice, which is uncomfortable enough when you're just trying to watch something which's main premise is NOT that, only to later also be infantalised... Like, eugh...

For the LSP movie I quite like it, it was a fun watch. Would never do again. I do however agree and literally don't know how people can make being an identity their whole personality, like the character should have other things that they like.

0:35 I LOVE YOU, JUST, F_CKIN LOVE YOU!!

Seriously, someone finally said it. I'm already too tired of condemning LGBT people in the media, just because of this trope. Because of this, it is very difficult to properly represent such characters to people, because they are negatively disposed in advance.

I don’t rlly get why ppl hate “fetish” ocs so much 🥲 I mean like,, most of the time when ppl say “Omg!! CrEatOrs HidDeN fEtiSh!! 😧😮” its just.. not true?? 😭 like even if a character is made for “fetish content” who cares, man?? 😔 it’s just a character some1 made for themselves, it doesn’t hurt any1 🥹🥹 (no hate btw)

Having a one dimensional character at the start helps to build around their surface traits and archetypes as you discovered who they are

I don’t even like Lebsian Space Princess that much, but the criticism of Saira having a too romance-focused character arc in what is obviously an queer exploration/coming-of-age story rubs me the wrong way. The same level of scrutiny toward romance-focused plots is rarely applied to hetero-focused stories, & it just feels like disdain toward queer-centric plots/unapolagetically gay art under the guise of criticism. And while I can’t deny that the gay coming-of-age plot is painfully overdone, it’s strange for a queer content creator of all people to only highlight mediocre media made by other queer creators to make your point.

how dare youtube not tell me about this for 3 hours :O
digging the new background art!!!

These are important distinctions I believe in.  The more one can understand about another and the less one plays into a trope of sorts, the more they can get along and feel more natural.  (This has to be done both ways, not always easy)

Personally I like to show a characters sexuality through the story without saying it directly and just make it a part of their character and focus more on their love for someone instead of what their sexuality is

i'm a trans man and i really dislike wandering son for how they treat tatatsuki :/
its really transphobic because the whole ending treats being a trans man as this "phase to overcome"
it just shits over the whole story because prior to the ending, it was pretty good rep!

I'm actually going to disagree with you here. It all depends on the purpose or the story or the character assuming we are talking about artists individual since bot everyone plans to write.

One. I wouldn't day for high guardian spice that was the professors whole character. That was one bit of clunky dialog. The professor had no character, trans or not. I think you're confusing it for snapdragon who had more character traits but whose character became being potentially trans and just liking sage after a while.
Second, there's definitely a place for more one dimensional or fetish characters, it all depends on what you're trying to do. If a bunch of your characters are one dimensional archetypes, you could be trying to communicate something with that or it could be for the purpose of comedy such as most of the total drama casts. Or you're trying to have the most understanding of a character. Same applies to fetish stuff, artists do sometimes draw purely in the  attributes they're attracted to.
Of course this is all about having fun and not oc things need to be serious

As a bara artist it actually disgusts me when muscular builds are exploited for fetish content, yes I draw men having intercourse but I, don't make it an entire personality or shove it into people's faces or OVER EXAGGERATE the entire thing.

A small advice for artists learning about muscular anatomy

- if you ever learn anatomy, don't use it for sexual content ALL the time, and don't make it too public as it can draw audiences that might give you the opposite of your expectations. If you draw buff men because you wanna learn sure, but if it's because of your fantasies? Don't make it too public to the point of potential controversy or just DON'T

(I, used to fetishize muscular men until I found the japanese side of bara art and then it got me out of my trance)
