Not a Rangers supporter by any stretch of the imagination (obviously!), but Gascoigne was an absolute master. A real icon of his era. Him and Brian Laudrup were by far the best two players in the Scottish Premier League at the time. Such a shame to see how Gazza's ended up.
My mate won Gascoigne's shirt in a prize draw. He still has it framed. He calls it the Gazza Strip...
As an evertonian i was at the match in 1985 when we played newcastle utd....everton were phenominal, we won the game...but...EVERYONE was talking about this 'boy'...and i cant remember if he was on full game or as sub...but...his touch, his dribbling, his power in shots...my god....we had peter reid, paul bracewell, trevor steven and kevin sheedy...a midfield to DIE for....and he just dominated when he got the ball....running about with his odd head back style...NOBODY could get near him....his balance and poise were perfection...his ability was there...for ALL to see....WHAT a player !!.... and even as the throngs walked out and home...they werent talking about how we'd won...they were ALL in awe of this....well, this young kid !!.... it was gazza....my first sight of him.....WHAT A PLAYER....if only...but..i will add, when he joined us for a while everyone at the club fell in love with him...my young nephew worked as a youth player and paul treated him like his own son...my nephew idolised him....didnt we all !!.... inspite of his troubles a very decent and humble man 🍻
If you watch the effort gazza gives in this video compared to our players you don't always have to be the greatest player all us fans want is give your all and never stop running.
It never matters what team a player like Gazza plays for, players like him are so few and far between despite what Sky Sports might tell you!, that as football lovers we just don’t care as long as we all get to see them on a pitch before they are gone….! ⚒
John Collins v Paul Gascoigne - can it ever get any better? What a pair of players and with all that skill, both still not afraid of a tackle and no theatrics, just handshakes.
