Halloween II & Jaws: The Revenge - Interview with LANCE GUEST

Happy Horror Time

7,108 views

Welcome to our interview with LANCE GUEST!

Lance Guest made his big-screen debut as Jimmy in “Halloween II” — the sweet paramedic with eyes for Laurie Strode and an unfortunate encounter with a puddle of blood. He later played Michael Brody in “Jaws: The Revenge,” facing a Great White that followed his family all the way to the Bahamas.

Tune in to hear all about working on both films, whether he thinks Jimmy survived (and why he suspects his alternate ending was cut), and how Michael Caine saved his life while their boat was sinking.

Lance is spot on with the sequels at the time, we were inundated with them, and the tedium of them ran dry real quick. Some notables:
* F13
* Halloween
* Nightmare On Elm Street
* Rambo
* Missing in Action
* Poltergeist
* Star Trek
* Indiana Jones
* Amityville Horror

Then you mix in the 3D movies, from Jaws, F13, Amity 3D, and a few others. I love my decade, but we had too many subpar sequels.

We saw JAWS IV at the theater, and when the shark makes its appearance where we can clearly see it, one of the audience members shouts out, "How PHONY!", we all laughed, that's how bad it got with that franchise and sequels in general.

Appreciate the discussion, Lance always seemed like a pleasant person back then, and this pretty much confirms it.

Fantastic. The Last Starfighter and Jaws the revenge alone would make a career let alone Halloween II...

So cool you guys got to interview Lance, I watched The Last Starfighter repeatedly on cable. Halloween 2 is my 2nd favorite in the series. Never seen Jaws Revenge, I should watch it now.

I can see why they let the ending of Halloween II focus on just Laurie in the ambulance alone with Michael simultaneously burning, but I do like Jamie Lee’s acting in the other ending and her acting altogether in that sequel.

I remember listening to Lorraine Gary’s interview recently, she mentioned there was a scene where she had a gun and was supposed to act crazy I guess pointing it at the shark maybe similar to Roy Scheider in Jaws 2, but she said she hated guns. Jaws the Revenge I actually like and agree with Tim it’s beautifully shot and the acting and family dynamics were good. They should have kept the original ending imo and not have the shark roar. 🦈

I'm only about one quarter in to the interview so far. I'm glad that you guys mentioned The Last Starfighter. That was the first movie that I saw Lance in. I was a kid, and saw it with my grandpa. It was funny learning as an adult that Dan O'Herlihy played Grig in that movie. I love me some Season of the Witch, man. (Back to the interview for me)

I believe there is still one good Halloween story left to tell. They could go back & continue from part 4 forty years later & pretend 5 & 6 didn't happen. Bring back Danielle as Jaime & Elle as Rachel & bring in Lance as Jimmy as Jaime's dad plus you could bring in Lyndsey as the Lyndsey character was in part 4 briefly, u could also have Tommy as his character would still be alive in this timeline.

I just saw Halloween 2 in the theater over Labor Day weekend. A woman laughed at Jimmy's fall. Kind of weird, but O.K. It was awesome seeing it on the big screen. It brought out what a dark and grim movie it is.

I love hearing what he says about Jamie Lee Curtis!

You took off running down the halls of Haddonfield Hospital then you took off running down the beach in J4.
What's with the running? 😊

Still so cute! He was in a Kristy McNichol movie a couple years after Halloween II. He played a telephone operator who was interested in Kristy’s character. He disguised himself as a singing telegram person in a gorilla costume and saw that she was crippled so he left her house and like takes off the mask and shakes his head and drives away. 😭🤣 So if I ever meet him, I have to ask him about that movie cuz… it was crazy 😂 Anyway great interview guys 🫶🏻🩷

The Last Starfighter 2 has been in the works for years, i really hope they do it and if they do that Lance and Catherine are in it and not just bit parts either.
