skyrim is one of the most beloved locations in gaming, and it's easy to see why. however, it's undeniable that the world could benefit from more accessible and expansive forms of transportation. if you were ever curious about what a high speed rail network would look like within the world of the elder scrolls... well then you've come to the right place my friend hehehe. from high speed rail, to intercity rail, and even shuttle services, kip is here to cover it all!

What if Skyrim was bike-friendly and walkable

Now we just have to wait for someone to mod this entire railway network into the game!

Can't help but think the Solitude train station would be on the other side of the river with a cable car to reach the city itself.

I have 1 major concern:
The green line cuts through Labirynthian. Y'know, the ancient Nordic ruin of magical doom and despair that's placed between 2 dragon homes.

Imagine having a Wild West style train robbery, but it’s Forsworn attacking a train in the mountains near Markarth

Now I get why Lokir from rorikstead stole that horse.

I love the paper movements and aesthetics here. It makes the video so much more entertaining to watch.

Nobody notices the Riften elevation change until they zoom way out and there's a massive volcanic crater next door. They shouldn't even be able to get horse driven carts up those slopes.

Windhelm probably benefits most from having a train line because it makes it easier to leave

Taxes in Skyrim are going through the roof to pay for all these tunnels

Surprised that you didn’t take inspiration from Switzerland with how much insane engineering feats they have done just to run trains through what is essentially very similar geography as Skyrim

I'm tempted to say that the high speed rail station for Solitude should just... be on the other side of the river. It can create it's own southern bank port demand, and is still within easy access of the city (albeit likely requiring another form of public transit to get to the new mega-station that's servicing the Solitude docks), but we do see similar situations in reality where major transit hubs are outside of historic city center.

The traveling in skyrim:
-Live in Solitude, want to study in Winterhold
-take the green line to Whiterun, have to stop for five hours because of a chaurus infestation.
-take the red line to Windhelm, have to stop again because of a civil war battle (also, get mugged bu the wining side as "thanks" for "saving us")
-finally going to Winterhold... until a dragon picked up my wagon. Now im in Solsteim. By the nine, not again...

Falkreath would be the connection point with a Cyrodiil rail system. If that line coming from Bruma is high speed, it probably continues to Whiterun bypassing Riverwood. Maybe just keeps going until Dawnstar, the plains north of Whiterun and the gentle hills of The Pale would make inexpensive compared with the rest of the system. Of course the Falkreath Express runs parallel to the high speed line to serve Riverwood and Helgen after reconstruction.

words of power: HIGH SPEED RAIL!
or maybe in Thuum "Reyliik Dwiin Key" (Race Steel Horse)
or "Rinik Ru Miir" (Very Run Pathway)

Fun fact, it's actually NOT lore-averse to have a subway system in Tamriel. In the book series "The Argonian Account," we're introduced to Rootworms, giant worms that live in Black Marsh that people regularly let themselves get eaten by because their digestive systems are so weak that it would take genuine months of living in one to actually be digested, and they can easily be exited. They're used as transportation.
